I could go on and on and on, but then Interference would be submerged in an ocean of drool over PULP!

Babies..my new favorite band

PULP FTW:drool:

I'm loving the Pulp love in this thread!

Something Changed

Additions to my list:

Sondre Lerche

The Cure

When I discovered Led Zeppelin in high school in the early 90's, I had to undergo what every serious music fan must go through at some point during their lives: a prolonged "Zeppelin phase." I still don't think I've grown out of it entirely...

Actually, I'd have to say this forum ("Just the Bang and the Clatter") is something I wish I'd discovered sooner. I pretty much only visit "Everything you know is wrong" and "General Tour Discussions" (when U2 is on tour). Both of those forums have been rather flat in recents weeks/months. So, I found this forum and I'm glad I did. I need some new music and I'm hunting this forum for suggestions.

Otherwise, back to the topic at hand...

Wilco - - I "discovered" them about one year ago and have since collected almost everything they have out. I watched a Wilco documentary called "I am trying to break your heart" that was on Comcast/OnDemand. That got me started.

I think Wilco has some really great stuff. (The "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" disc was the best place to start for me). Jeff Tweedy strikes me as an enormously talented, yet self-centered/controlling kind of person. I think the only thing that prevented Wilco from being a "megagroup" so far has been the fact that Tweedy has tried to remain so true to what he feels is his artistic output. (Plus, he seems like kind of an oddball -- which is good in an artist, but he's no Mick Jagger.) I have since been spreading the Wilco word to my friends.

my most recent is The New Pornographers.
AC Newman is a fucking genius
Neko Case is a talented babe.
"Sing Me Spanish Techno", "The Laws Have Changed", and "The Bleeding Heart Show" are works of power pop perfection.
loving on this band
better late than never.

I wish I discovered U2, I mean really discovered them before 2005. Like, I had just gotten 100% into them the same summer they held a concert here in Norway. I had always liked them a lot, but never bothered to really listen to more than the songs I only heard on the radio and stuff. Oh boy, don't I regret that.

The Replacements. I knew who they were back then but didn't really listen properly, too busy listening to U2 or somesuch.....

What the fuck was I doing!!!!

Muse - saw them at the Big Day Out last friday and they ROCKED!!!
I'd heard plenty of good things about them, but never quite got around to getting any of their stuff - now I'm hooked!!

I first thought Muse were Radiohead wannabes. They're great in their own right  I actually caught myself air-guitaring to Black Holes and Revelations the other day at the gym, which I'm sure was slightly disturbing to those watching.

Echo & The Bunnymen - my other near-miss. I could've been saved from the likes of Vanilla Ice and Debbie Gibson had I been evolved enough to appreciate them in the '80s :( Another seriously great band, and one I instantly loved. They kind of fit like a favourite pair of socks.

Tom Waits. Practically any song by him. He's amazing.

Ohhhh man, gotta agree here, too. The Orphans 3-CD set he released last year was AMAZING.

Downtown Train  (*cough*voteformeinthedesertislandgamepleaseandthanks*cough*)

I felt horrible when I found out he wrote Downtown Train. Every time I even vaguely like a Rod Stewart song, I should know he didn't write it :reject:

Ray LaMontagne is my pick for this list. His albums were all I listened to for about ten days when I first bought them.

in theory, with the exception of the street dogs, i could probably say i wish i'd discovered every single band/artist i like sooner.

mostly springsteen and the stones. i'm inclined to say u2, as well, because it would have been nice to have been able to see them on tour before they began to suck.

I love you!

I did pretty much the same thing to Ark´s "it takes a fool to remain sane"
at my gym (with my friend´s tennis racket).

They don´t want me there anymore.

 Same here, I only started liking them when Bomb came out, and now I'd give anything(ish) to have gone to one of their PopMart shows, even though I'd have been 7, pfffft, details
