wrong band

Balls. Right band, thankyou. He was only in the Faces til 1975.

Um... wrong instrument. So that was pretty foolish of me, considering I love the Stones! Wyman, is what I meant! Followed by Daryl Jones on the road. Oops :reject:

That said: Ron Wood play bass occasionally and on It's Only Rock n Roll when performed live in the '75 US Tour. So there. :p

Soooo tough to choose. But I would say The Stones by a hair.

The one area the Who has over the Stones IMO is that the Stones have a lot more songs that I do NOT like compared to the Who. I like/love 95% of the Who's catalogue, while the Stones, I like/love about 80% of their songs. The Stones have had some real clunkers in my opinion.

Stones, easily. The Who were brilliant but started to really suck 8/odd years into it.

SUSTAINED greatness. Its the reason we al brag about our beloved U2, but the Stones were the first to produce great music for 15 years straight.

This is kinda like a lot of baseball arguments. Basically, it comes down to what you value more: peak value or career value.

The Who, at their best, were better than the Stones. I think most would agree with this. But there's also no doubting that the Stones produced a much larger catalog of good music.

I'm more of a peak value type, myself, so I'd have to say I prefer The Who. I'd also take Koufax over Warren Spahn.

Basically, it comes down to personal taste.
In my opinion.

I see your point though. :D

You can hear Wood with the Faces
that is where he had some impact.

when Wood left the Faces they lost their edge.

Stewart just became some lounge singer.

With the Stones he would not be missed. He is just a contract player.

like Nils with the E Street band.
Stevie V Z is the guitar that is heard.

Doesn't Ron Wood and Rod Stewart look like they have the same 'Face?'

Very tough choice... I'll go with Who cause Pete Townshend is a genius,

Keith Richards has a deeper understanding of rock and roll, though.

NO :censored: contest !! ... definitely THE WHO !!!!!!!!!

AWESOME CLASSIC SONGS ::

Baba O'Riley
Who Are You
Won't Get Fooled Again
Love Reign O'er Me
Squeeze Box
Athena
Eminence Front
Behind Blue Eyes
The Song Is Over

Even Pete Townshend's songs ::

Give Blood
Face The Face
Secondhand Love
White City Fighting

can be mentioned here as those are CLASSICS by him alone!!

What about Pinball Wizard as a classic? Surely, you think it's better than Who Are You---lol. The rest are cool. I don't know about those Townshend songs, though. Face The Face is piece of Eighties keyboard dopeyness.

Don't forget about 5:15, The Kids are Alright, We're Not Gonna Take It, Magic Bus...etc etc.

Yeah, I see I forgot a few songs ... but, I was giving an example
over why I picked The Who instead of The Rolling Stones ...

The Who ... :applaud:

The Rolling Stones ... :yuck:

I think this thread should have had a poll to see how many here
at Interference chose between these 2 bands ... and which band
was the overall WINNER !!

I agree. I'm just so fucking sick of the Stones by now. They are long past due to retire. They haven't had a decent album in 30 years. The same could be said for the Who about retiring, but the difference between these two bands in that respect is...

The Who still ROCK! The two new songs they recorded for their latest compilation album were actually pretty damn good, and their live shows are still awesome.

Pete Townshend's White City Fighting album is CLASSIC !!
IMO, Face The Face is an EXCELLENT SONG along with Give Blood ...
2 of Townshend's BEST off this album ... :applaud:
and there's NO dopeyness about it !! :shame:

Yea but one of the Stones latest songs from their 40 Licks album "Don't Stop" is a classic. Also, "Stealing My Heart," also from 2002 is awesome. They still make good songs. Songs from the 90's such as: Love is Strong, Sparks will Fly, You've Got me Rocking, Sweethearts Together, Blinded by Rainbows, I go Wild, Anybody Seen My Baby, Saint of Me, Out of Control.

Although these songs are not as good as their 60's and 70's classics, they are still better then alot of the crap out there nowadays.

Yea I agree, the Stones should retire, but overall, they have many more great songs then the Who.

As far as the better live band of the 2, it's a toss up.
