that call was god awful, and the giants certainly would have been in much better shape if the call wasn't made, but the refs didn't make the ensuing interception that eli threw.

they played well enough to win, had a few penalties that were their own fault, a few ones that were very suspect, and three dropped interceptions, two of which could have gone for touchdowns if they were brought in.

the good thing is a lot of their mistakes are correctable mistakes... the bad thing is that, although eli played very well at times, he was at times still inaccurate... which remains the biggest problem the giants face.

The Giants should have won that game. Sure, there were some bad calls, but the penalties killed them.

And I thought Eli performed quite well despite some mistakes. So even though they lost, and even though they have a tough schedule, I still think the Giants will end up being the team to beat in the NFC.

And if the Colts' defense and running game is like that all year, they won't have the same regular season as last year.

The Packers have a legit shot at 0-16.

That is one terrible football team. I watched them get dismantled a couple of weeks ago by Cincy in a Monday night preseason game and just figured, "Well its just exhibition", but after yesterday, I think they are by far the worst team in the league, and with the likes of the Raiders, Texans, 49ers, Lions and Rams in the league, thats saying something.
Brett Favre should have retired after 2004...what possessed him to come back agian aftert 2005 is beyond inexplicable.

eli's % was at 59... if it can stay around that level all year, the giants will be fine. there were quite a few of the same typical eli throws... aka too high... but it was a good sign.

the penalties were brutal... forget about the phantom pass interference call. they just had too many false starts right from the start. nerves i guess. shockey was hurt and couldn't move after a catch, so eli should be even better once shockey gets healthy. they could've had two interceptions returned for touchdowns if they could actually hold on to the ball, that was a killer. if peyton had fallen behind early in this game off interceptions, his track record in big games doesn't exactly favor him.

tiki and jacobs were fantastic... the latter of which is bad news for whoever drafted tiki. they're going to use both of them a lot, esp. if jacobs continues to improve... much the way pittsburgh used parker and the bus last year. the change in pace between the big, barreling runner in jacobs and the lightning quick barber is tough to adjust to.

the game was there, a few tweeks here and there and it's a victory. on to week two...

one thing's for certain, the giants are NOT the houston texans

From what I saw last night...Jacobs will be carrying the load for the G-Men this season, Tiki shall become a 3rd down specialist again.

The Patriots traded Branch away to Seattle for a first-round pick.

It's too bad it came to this point, really. Both sides really blew it. But in the end, he wasn't coming back, so getting a first-round pick works out very well.

The scary thing is that yesterdays game showed that the Pats could use Branch. God they looked like shit. I can't remember the last time the fans booed them. OH well at least they got the W and Rodney Harrison played:wink:

At least the Patriots didn't give in and give Branch a huge contract that would've handcuffed them cap-wise. The good thing about them is that they spend money where they should and let the other teams deal out the stupid contracts.

the seahawks got robbed... branch isn't worth a #1 overall

Is it #1 overall or their first round pick? Unless Seatle does horribly this year, they won't have the #1 next year, will they?

Either way, it seems like a bad move for Seattle for someone who's going to probably only be their #3 receiver.

It's their first-round pick, which most likely will come towards the end of the round. I think the trade is good for Seattle - I think Branch will help them. But for the Patriots to get a first-round pick for him is excellent. Consider that Miami only gave up a second-round pick for Culpepper, who is a quarterback that had MVP-type numbers before.

Yes the Iggles after conquering the Mighty Texans are well on their way to yet another SuperBowl championship...wait...Did you guys have a parade in Philly yesterday celebrating the big victory?

The Seahags definitely overpaid for Branch in the trade and probably the contract as well.
He's a very good receiver, but not a top 10 in the league talent. He wasn't worth a first round pick.

that's what i meant to say... somehow i threw the "overall" in there. i was probably drunk :hmm:

branch is a quality #2 receiver, and #2 receiver's aren't worth 1st round picks... unless your name is matt millen.

consideirng that the pats tend to draft well, yea... the pats got the better end of the deal.

We're celebrating the fact that after watching the three of you play this season is LOCKED up as a win for us.

One of Eli Manning's passes just landed in my backyard, approximately 300 miles away from the intended receiver.

The three of you??

You do know I'm Pats fan, remember the team that most recently crushed Philly's hopes of snapping the longest drought in North America for a city to win a championship who is represented in all 4 major sports.
