ETA: Normally I don't like Italian style play but they were good today. Kept attacking even in the end. Ghana is solid, though. Definitely way better than Angola.

Ivory Coast is clearly the class of the African field.

two things:

1. Get over it, Sore loooooooser! *makes L7 weeny sign*
2. Watch a game before you comment on it!

I can't recall anitram being Japanese.

Angela Harlem is right in the money. The Australian team has lots of quality but not enough to base their tactics on, so they have to play a bit more physical. I can't say it's always attractive to watch, but neither are counter teams like Italy. And like it or not, football is a contact sport and it's up to the refs to set the boundries.

If I put everything I ever had on 3-1 score...I would have quit my day job today :-)

WTF is your problem?

I'm not Japanese, I don't give a half a crap how Japan does in this tournament or for that matter, Australia.

And I saw the game.

Some people here seriously need to relax.

Watched 5 games in full so far:

ARG-IC : IC deserved a draw
HOL - S.MN : Robben ruled, though I will admit Serb team had bad luck in getting a goal
POR - ANG: Angola deserved at leat a goal
ITA:GHA: Ghana should have gotten a goal at least, Italians played surprisingly well. Baaad goalkeeper on Ghana team.
CHE:US: Too bad for Koller, Rosicky was in top form

IMO Angola and Ivory coast were robbed of a penalty. And the referee missed the first goal for ARG which was regular. Oh and 21 fouls for Ghana and only 6 for Italy? Yeah right.

None of the favourites played great so far, Italians IMO the best so far out of those.
Pleasantly surprised by African teams.
Waiting to see France, Brasil and Spain.

Everyone who wants to see Brasil lose today (or at least not winning the championship), raise your hand

Oh, yes. Clearly and obviously orchestrated.

Clearly.

No team goes in that hard that often unless they're told to.

If we dont play like this in league games, then if we do now, ask why.
Most of your players aren't in your leagues, and they don't play like that in their league games. The why is that they are trying to intimidate and level the playing field.

Those of us who have been watching, playing and been involved in soccer since the early '70's can see that a mile away, it's not rocket science. The Spaniards did it a lot in the 70's, the Italians did it a lot in the mid 70's, Uruguay was doing it in the 80's, it's not new, but it is planned.

If you're happy with the result, great. just don't expect to not have your team be criticized. It is the Soccer equivalent of 'hack-a-shaq' (obscure NBA references) or some of the Pistons play of the 80's.

I never knew that Adam Morrison played for South Korea, but apparently he does and wears the #19 shirt.

There is one good reason to watch ESPN's coverage: Julie Foudy.
