Well you can get your learner's permit when you turn 16, which basically stipulates that you can't drive anywhere without someone who has their full license in the passenger seat, no other passengers, etc.

Then after 6 months you can get your Class 5-N permit which marks you as a new driver, you can drive by yourself and have up to 3 passengers in the car but you can't drive between the hours of midnight and 6 am (unless you have work reasons), along with a whole host of other minor conditions.

After you've had that for 2 years and have taken a defensive driving course, you can go get your Class 5 (Full) license, which basically takes away all the conditions. Really the only difference to me is that now I'll be able to drive anytime I want to, the "UNDER 19 UNTIL 03/12/05" big red lettering across the top will be removed, and I'll be able to have a (very small) blood alcohol content when driving now.

But I lost my old card (lost, not had it suspended), and I'll need a government photo ID to cross the border on Friday (!!!) so I figure now's as good a time as any to go get it.

I didnt even have to take a class and I got my privisional license when I was 16. Which just meant that I couldnt drive between those times.
But I did anyway

There's nothing to eat here. Who the hell is responsible for food shopping in this house??

You all are making me hungrier.
