I don't think that one's been answered yet, so fwiw, "Give'r" is apparently Nova Scotian for, approximately, "Lay it on me" or "Give it up" or similar. DaveC used it once to start off a bar, and the rest of us liked it so well that we all now use it, too.

but i gotta go soon, in 6 minutes the bell will ring and i have to go to govt and i don't usually get on the laptop during then, or during german but i'll be back during journalism.
 
Okay, I've cleaned and restocked the bar. Thrown out all the old magazines and emptied the dishwasher. The dogs have been fed, Lord Farquhar has enough water and a nice new bed of straw (mucking out stables for a living has come in handy). Donald is safe up there on the wall catching flies and the coffee pot is on. Enjoy all...

I'm outta here. Getting drunk on your own is no fun :(

:| ok so i told my friend who i was planning to go with to see U2 in DC the dates and that they were a wed. and thurs., and she FREAKED OUT "omigosh you can't miss college! you can't miss a day! my brother freaks out when he misses a day!" (her brother is a certified genius and will most likely go to MIT) and i said "your brother is an exception..." "well what if you miss a lecture?!?!?!" (she was freakin out) i said "get notes from a classmate...you have a syllabus you already know your assignments." she FREAKED. :tsk: poor girl so uptight.

"Give'r" is Maritimer slang meaning basically "go for it". It's literally part of the phrase "Give'r nuts", which means "go for it really really hard". It's basically an exhortation to give your 100% at whatever you do, a term of endearment or encouragement.

Either that, or it means "shotgun that beer right now". :wink:

I've been to 1 class since we got back from study break a week ago and I'll only be going to 2 this week. It's not so bad as long as you keep up on the readings and hand in the assignments when needed. I mean, hell, lots of profs would even give you extensions if they knew you were going away, even for a concert. As long as you get it in ASAP afterwards.
 
exactly. i've never heard anyone stress out because they missed a day or two of classes. :shrug:

i'll take the train up to DC and party on from there :hyper:

my photography and german teachers are going to be there too :hyper:
 
I didn't actually do it...I've kind of wanted to chop off the "etaurora" for some time, because no one can ever spell or pronounce my username and everyone just calls me "pax" anyway. I had been pestering Sicy about this--no, even the great and powerful super mods can't change usernames--for a while, but the other night when she was feeling, um, generous, she went ahead and did it for me.

So now I'm pax.

i had some business to attend to.....threatening clients with baseball bats for cheques and the like..... :wink:


after throwing the evidence in the canal and then banking my cheques....



i went down to visit Muz but he wasn't in. so, got back on the bus. but....typical - i see the muzness sauntering along oblivious as the bus flies past him. couldn't be bothered getting off the next stop so i just came home.

my day....getting money, not visiting friends, going home, shattered at 7pm.
