(that's Lukas on backing vocals too apparently)

That love song is pretty catchy, I quite like it (but then again, I think catchy is Butch Walker's style...)

Lukas (and probably a little studio magic thrown into the mix) have made these songs really listenable to me.

I like them. :reject:

....

Was really impressed  . Lukas was the artist of the group of rockers. He was the right choice for SN - they were lucky to get him. Keeping my fingers crossed for the other top 4!

I thought Lukas' performance of Bittersweet Symphany was amazing.. and same with Fix You.. the first time i actually enjoyed the song... his original was really catchy as well...I thought Toby's original was over-rated but his performance of Karma Police was awesome..

I like these two songs, but always thought they were missing something. Lukas added the twist of darkness and mania to bring them back to reality

Magni fans - a lengthy, detailed, surprisingly candid interview with him, just after his arrival home:

http://www.rockband.com/forum/topic.asp?topic_id=4153&whichpage=2

It was apparently conducted and televised in Icelandic, then transcribed and translated.

Yeah, I did a synopsis of all the Magni interview translations for another board, he really revealed a lot of stuff.

Also, Magni fans are amassing at www.magni-ficent.com to try to keep up with him, and make sure he does something. Even though I have very little interest in Supernova itself, I caved and bought a ticket to the NYC show just for Magni... :reject:

Woohoo Pop Artist!!!!   How did you get to meet them? Great photos!!

Where was this???

It was in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada - there was a 90 minute or so larger day show with a very small (100 people) short night performance and meet and mingle. I had a great time, and worth the bus trip up there. :) Magni is just as cool and laid back and regular guy as he was on the show.

I read about it, but I guess I'm just not devoted enough to have made the 6 hour trek.

When I heard about it, my first thought was that the bar owner must have paid a shitload of money to bring them to the area for just one show. I'm sure he'd be on the hook for transportation, accomodations, as well as fees, etc.

I also read that he's planning future shows with Storm and Ryan.

Well, I had been trying for a bit of a Canadian getaway all year (had been aiming for Montreal though) anyway, but hadn't gotten it together - so with this going on, combined with it being a long weekend, pushed me over the border. Also Ottawa turned out to be a very cool city and the Fall colors were lovely!

I have a suspicion that the owner or his booker has some kind of connection to Suzie McNeil from last year's show (who is also playing there this week), and she was pretty plugged into this year's crop of contestants, so I think that's why they're getting all of them there.

Huh? I live in Ottawa and heard NOTHING about this! How did I miss this?! :hmm:

So they performed twice? What was the turn-out like for the larger event? And where exactly was it held?

Thanks!

Sad though

I thought there must have been some connection between him and a/the performer(s), Ottawa is just kind of random. Several shows in venues in Toronto and the surrounding area is the norm, and would have made more sense. Glad you enjoyed yourself, and thanks for the info.

ladywithspinninghead, it was at The Thirsty Toad. Here's a review of the show:

If you're interested in any of the upcoming Rockstars, check the pub's website. These tickets went on sale very suddenly, and they went fast.

Well now I'm REALLY glad I went - Magni posted on his board this morning that the House Band - and by association he, Dilana and Storm - are OFF the Stupornova tour. The sticking point was, as always, $ (SN being cheap bastards). Toby's band Juke Kartel is going to take their place. Now I am REALLY glad I went to Ottawa!

ladywithspinninghead, the two shows came together really fast, in under two weeks. The day show was in the Thirsty Toad's parking lot - it was advertised as 1200 attendance, but in reality it looked like maybe 800, there were tix available at the door. Night show/after-party tix were only sold at the Thirsty Toad, although if coming from out of town, one could make alternate arrangements with the owner (which is what I did).

Okay, looks like my decision not to buy SN tickets at $95 each was a brilliant one, after all.

Any word as to whether or not The House Band and the others may strike out on their own? :fingerscrossed:
