Poor Gerrard, the boys in Blue will be forever reminding him of this own goal incident, on the training ground next season... Oops!! Did I just say that?!

Yeah the Liverpool fans weren't overly amused by chants of 'He's got his first goal for Chelsea' and all night of 'One Steven Gerrard, there's only one Steven Gerrard.' A number of Liverpool fans said we were welcome to him. I've still no idea why he went for that ball but it might bring him back down earth and realise that one man doesn't make a team. He did however thoroughly deserve the standing ovation the Chelsea fans gave him he when he came over to take a corner in extra time. Apart from the nightmarish journey home it was a much better day than I was expecting.

There's no way Everton are a better team than Liverpool. I think Benitez has done a good job and if they get that investment they keep talking about I don't think they are a million miles away from Chelsea, United and Arsenal. They just need a couple of quality signing here and there.

YAY!!!! WE WON WE WON WE WON!!!!!!!!

one trophy down and hopefully many more to come. i missed the game yesterday but i saw the highlights this am and i am so pleased with the result.

i would like to thank stevie gerrard for gifting us with out first goal of the night and allowing for the extra time to be played. and also to DD and kez for winning the game.

and i think liverpool will do better next season when all their players are fit and healthy at the same time. as for gerrard coming to us...i'm not quite sure. but if he did we would literally have the best midfield in europe to nicely compliment the meanest defense in europe.

imagine....

cech
ferriera terry carvalho gallas
gerrard maka lamps
duff drogba robben

Not sure about Arsenal's chances in tonights game at Bramall Lane. No Henry, no Bergkamp, no Pires, no Reyes, no Van Persie - the strike-force looks to be lacking somewhat.
Add to that list Sol Campbell, Edu and Gilberto Silva - and a dodgy keeper between the sticks, and it looks pretty bleak for them.

I still think they'll squeeze past the Blades tho.
Im naturally more interested in the outcome of Saints v Brentford. Not worried at all tho. I can't see us losing to either teams, whoever we get in the next round.

If Arsenal lose tonight it does look like their season is over. I can't see them coming back in the Champions League and if anyone catches Chelsea it will be United. If that's the case it will be interesting to see what happens in the summer.

Mixed feelings about Pennant it just seems such a shame as he's one of the most naturally gifted players around and the guy seems to have problems. Some of which I think could have been addressed if he'd played for Birmingham for the rest of the season and then signed for them permanently in the summer.

Spurs v. Saints on Saturday...should be a good matchup, but the shaky health of Naybet and King makes me a little nervous.

Bloody hell! I thought that game was never gonna end last nite!!
I felt sorry for UTD at the finish, they'd given it all. I just had the feeling that if it went to Penalties, Arsenal would have the edge.

One thing's for certain tho, it sure as hell wouldn't have got that far had Henry, Campbell, Reyes, Bergkamp been on the pitch that's for certain!

Very nervous and tense against Sheff Utd last night but considering the players we had out:

Campbell
Lehman
Edu
Van Persie
Pires
Reyes
Henry
Gilberto
Hoyte
Bergkamp

... and Toure only starting on bench, I thought we did very well. Vieira was back to his near best while Fabregas, Flamini and Cole were great. Also great to see Quincy show he is near ready for first team action. Changed the game for Arsenal when he came on at half time.

As for the penalty shoot-out.. we normally lose those..... so, great to see 4 penalties go in without too much bother. And great to see Almunia do something right for a change..
