Nah, my tolerance for idiots is astonishingly low. My aim is to primarily do research. But I almost certainly will have to tutor or lecture, since universities now rarely tend to have research-only positions here, especially in history.

I ask these questions because I think I wanted to be a record producer but now something seems like it is the perfect fit. I can be artistic, creative and write with this career. How do I know if that is what I am meant for?

Not there yet. But it's now down to Radio Production (meh), Journalism (fuck off) and PR (which i'm taking this year only because it was compulsory with Journalism).

At the moment my plan is riding it out and learning to fly planes, as horrendously expensive as it will be.

So at least i'll have a back up plan.

Are you hoping to write books on it too. I think you would be good at that. I know how well you write.

:jealous:

Bah. My dream was always to drive trains. But I'd be rather worried if they hired the legally blind guy!

So you want to be a pilot. That's awesome.

I didn't know if journalism or flying planes is what i'm meant for - i still don't.

I believe that you have to go out and try things. If you thought a few years ago it might be fun (like i did with journalism) you might realise it isn't your passion.

I go with the theory that life is long (touch wood), so a few mis-steps and false starts are perfectly fine.
