Yeah, but they slumped last year also and obviously you know what happened. I'm waiting for the Tigers to hit their inevitable slump.

yea but this slump has also shown some potential long term issues with the team such as:

hitting doesn't stay good forever
the starting pitching has several flaws to it (Javier Vazquez)
when given important clutch situations they wait for the homerun, instead of using the "smart ball" approach of last season

so to say the least, sox fans have plenty of reason to be worried, we just have to hope they can snap out of it

should be interesting to see what happened w/ Harold Reynolds.

He mentioned that he "might" talk about it in a couple of days.

Maybe they caught him juicing w/ Barry Bonds.

Mark Prior no hit the Mets for 5 and 2/3 innings before Dusty yanked him; I'm assuming he's on a pitch count.

dusty baker is a fucking douchebag

i don't care if a pitcher's on a pitch count... it's not spring training, he's pitching a no hitter... you don't take him out.

but with the Cubs' luck, Prior's arm could've fallen off or got struck by a meteor if he left Prior out there.

Sal has to shave and cut his hair - he must be devistated.

I give Fasano credit for trying to recapture the Mullet Magic of the '93 team. If Utley grows one out and Abreu goes for the jherri curl, then I think the team could still make some noise this season.

Dunno quite what to make of the Angels right now.

At the Allstar break, Billy Beane was quoted as saying the halos have the best starting pitching in baseball. Since then, Escobar was DL'd for a short time and Colon was pulled yesterday due to a sore elbow.

Soooooo, right now I'm not sure I can say they have the best starting staff but I'd take their top 3 (Lackey, Santana and Weaver) against anybody except possibly Minneasota because the twins have an utterly dominant top 2.

Everybody and their mother knows the Angels could use a bat but, that said, their offense has been performing much better as of late (though mostly against weak teams. But still.).

Howie Kendrick was brought up after the break and is hitting like the stud he's projected to be.

The weekend series with Boston should be interesting. The Red Sox usually beat the crap out of the Angels at Fenway, so I'm leery. Weaver pitches Saturday on national tv -- and I don't like that. There'll be a lot of pressure to continue his spectacular performance. Hopefully he'll be able to put it out of his mind.

Lastly, I wonder how much "home cookin''" the f'in Red Sox are gonna get this series (i.e., errant calls going their way). I at least expect the usual: Ortiz will try to check his swing but he won't hold up on strike 3, the appeal to 3rd will be made and, because it's Fenway and because it's the (media darling) Red Sox, Ortiz will get the fuckin' call. Book it.
