the indie reply to Beautiful Day

There's a local boston band called The Great Northern http://www.thegreatnorthern.net/mainpage.hmtl who's song Rocket Fight has been described as "the indie reply to U2's Beautiful Day"

Another Boston band, The Good North (an excellent name IMO) http://www.thegoodnorth.com/ were reviewed by The New Hampshire (UNH's student paper) and the lead singer was mentioned as being evocative of Bono and Thom Yorke.

Strange. Two bands with similar names, and both from Boston, with U2 references. Check them out for yourself. Tell me what you think. I don't know if I would necessarily agree with either of these comparisons, but interesting nonetheless.

What should I take with me to the north? It's the good north. The promised success, the appropriate north. It's the good north.

I want to reunite I need to save (what will you save?)
When everything is broken now.

that's some manic street preaching going on right there, meggie.

(gotta stop listening to those f**king manics, gotta stop listening to those f**king manics)

*puts on faster*

re: the bands posted by popkidu2, i will check them out because they sound interesting.

*unless of course meggie has heard 'the good north', or is referring to some song by some band i've never heard about, which makes my inappropriate manic appreciation all the more idiotic*

The name "The Good North" is from the Idlewild song, "Quiet Crown" from 100 Broken Windows.

But yay for the Manics!
