It's the simple fact that technology cannot be stopped. Digital is going to replace analog in any area it can, and that's a good thing for the most part. Film has its limitations that digital photography simple does not. That's not to say that any ole Joe will be able to afford that quality of digital equipment these days, but eventually it won't even be an issue. I don't really understand the fixation with antiquated technology. I mean, I understand we're still obviously in a transitional period, and film is still more commonly superior to the common digital tech, but these sorts of phasings-out are necessary and inevitable.
