I know - it's not an intentional thing either. I know some people take the approach of maxing out on caffeine to avoid eating, but that's not the goal with me. I just fill up on the stuff during the course of the morning to keep me alert in lessons, so don't feel hungry come lunch. I've been good with it in past weeks - having two cups a day and calling it quits

i didn't mean to go here...

we have a contest here at work. $20 buy in. set your goal weight loss, reach that goal by may 2 and get $10 back. the other $10 goes to the biggest loser. there are 11 of us doing it and we all are doing this rollercoaster thing. its hard and we are all trying to support each other. we weigh in every other friday.

my goal is 17 pounds and i have lost 5 already, but for the last week i have been eating like crazy and not working out.

i am doing south beach because i have done atkins, and although it works, i want to be able to eat more fruit. but i agree that if you have good portion control and work out at least 3 times a week, you can eat anything you want in moderation.

Breakfast: 3/4 cup organic raisin bran with 1/2 cup skim milk = 2 pts

I am now sipping on a diet pepsi = 0 pts

Lunch will probably be curried tuna salad on an English muffin with some vegies on the side = 5 pts

I behaved myself at lunch with my spring mix w/cheddar (left over from last night) and apple, but I did buy a bagel because I have to look at an apartment after work and I won't get to eat dinner until later. The parking lot's been plowed, though, so I'll go out with the walkers at 3:00 and then I'll have my bagel.

Your avatar is so Char.

Has anyone ever seen the Crystal Lite pixie sticks? You add one to a 20 oz bottle of water and shake and voila! I'm drinking some CL Peach Iced Tea now.

We talk about what we're doing, encourage each other, that kind of stuff... Kinda like the Octagon but without the male folk and drinks with mucho calories.

I ate my bagel and I'm wondering if that whole thing about "carb crashing" really is true.

What exactly is that? A fatigue from an insulin spike?

Can I join, too?

I started going to the gym in the middle of January, but haven't settled into a regular habit of it yet. Unfortunately, I keep making excuses. I want to lose a bunch of weight by the fall (when I will hopefully be seeing you know who!), but I have a question. I've never really been good at the whole diet thing, so I haven't done any research into how much weight a normal person can lose in any given time. How many pounds can a person lose in a month and it still be healthy for them? I have some pretty big weight loss goals, so I want to know how much time I should give myself. I'm trying to just eat healthier, too. My problem is the salty snacks. My downfall every time.

They usually say it's healthy to lose about 2 lbs. a week. So it's feasible to do about 10 lbs. in a month.

What kind of excercise or program do you do now?
