My goal is to get back to a size 10. No way do I want to be as skinny as I was when I was 20. I am 30 now, I realize my body is changing and I am accepting that, but what I am not accepting is the ever growing waist line. That is something I have control over. It needs to go down. No more spare tire for me.

My sister has type 1 diabetes, my parents both have heart problems, 2 of my grandparents (on different sides of the family) died of a massive heartattack/ heart disease. In my Mum's side of the family there is a history of ovarian cancer. My biggest aim is to be as healthy as I possibly can be, I am probably at high risk of developing something in later life, I need to lose a few lbs but being thin and looking like a supermodel is an unrealistic aim and for me, losing weight is not about looks, it's about my health. I am a few lbs from being in the normal weight section and I can't say that extra 7lbs is doing me any favours.

I've never been skinny in my life, and I hear it's much harder to take it off after you hit 30. (I'm 26 now...)

I am doing this from a vanity point of view, I admit, but I'm also doing it because my family has high risk of diabetes, heart disease, breast cancer, etc., all the "biggies" when you've got a few extra pounds.

I just went to the grocery store and spent $35.00 on healthy foods. I didn't buy a single high carb, high fat thing.

no I didn't go to the health food store and the place I went to was too busy to move so I didn't look. I'll run over to the other store one night this week.

Ok, I'm joining this thread:

I am doing weight watchers - I'd lost a bunch, then gained some of it back....

I joined Curves and I love it.

I totally pigged last night because of the Oscars. Pizza, bread, appletinis and diet coke and vanilla vodka.

That was it, today I am going back to being good. I am drinking a ton of water since I've been more into that 7-up stuff and juice lately, and I brought my lunch (pb&j, carrots, and an apple) and even though I'm going out later I'm working out the second I get home tonight.

Cheerios (one bowl!) and one million cups of coffee for breakfast.

It could be worse.

The only way I find to move weight is stress. I have had one of the most stressful six months of my life and have dropped 10kg (22lbs). I didn't plan to loose the weight but having it gone has made me feel more energetic and whenever I think about stuffing my face with food (usually chocolate) I go and get out the dog food and remind myself that the 10kg bag was what I use to be carrying around. It really makes a difference to my motivation (well, sometimes).

One thing to watch is the amount of sugars in some fruit (pretty high) and in drinks, even supposed "good" drinks like mineral waters (shocked me when I read the label).
