Well, in the simplistic form (i.e. the one I grasp!), I'd be looking at not only WHAT they don't say, but what questions they ask of New Zealand's past, what kind of a national identity they want to present in a general history, and why those don't lead them towards analysis of provincialism. For example, I'm writing that authors such as William Pember Reeves were focused on emphasising New Zealand's role as a progressive, experimental society, with successful locally-initiated legislation that was leagues ahead of the Old World. Hence, provincialism - a failed experiment initiated by the Colonial Office - comes off as something hardly relevant to New Zealand identity, dead and buried, and not worth extended analysis in the way the rise of the Labour movement is.

Actually, glad I wrote this, because as I did, something just twigged in my mind and I think I now know what to write about another historian.

Ah. I think it's a bit easier in science (or else I didn't understand the concept at all), since I think I was just supposed to summarise the existing literature on the topic and thus explain why my project was important.

Yay for twigs! I find having to explain things to people who don't understand them helps to cement stuff in your own head.

:lmao: Oh, God, that's hysterical.

I used to force my parents into playing Imaginary Wheel of Fortune. I kept track of the wheel, the board, which letters had been used, and both their scores in my head at the age of three. It's crap like that that makes me very happy I didn't start playing A Beautiful Mind - The Home Game.

Hey Alison, any chance you can swing past here on your way up to Castlemaine?

(Presume you're heading up on Christmas Eve ...?)

I guess that answers the question of whether you'd seen my email yet.
(Btw, I looked up NZ coinage, so don't worry about that bit.)

Why yes, there is a good chance of such swinging being possible.

I didn't even know who Kenny Loggins was...

Yeah, probably for the best.

I think they should have charged more for buying Es than, say, Us.

Oh my God :lmao:

CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE.

:lmao: Possibly my favourite one ever.

I think I ruptured something reading this blog and holding my laughter in because everyone else is asleep. :lmao:

Is it an improvement on their EP? Because that was just blatant sixties worship.

i never heard the EP... but if the EP was full of the psychedelic-iest parts of the sixties with a voice that sounds exactly like John Lennon buried in the mix, then it's probably not an improvement.

that makes me sick.

if this were not interference, and i wasn't worried about oversensitive people being offended by my comments, i'd say this bitch needs to be put out of her misery. but i'd just say that amongst mates, though. which i'm probably about to do in 10 minutes or so

$10 says compromising pics of her show up before too long and she gets a taste of her own medicine.

And Alison, I did see that e-mail, I'm just forgetful and losing track of things today.

I don't want to lose $10!

I just love how when these things come out it's always the players who cop all the shit. Oh, well! The girl is only 17! How could she have known better! Here! Have a lollipop! There you go...

What I don't understand is how this supposedly tarnishes Riewoldt's reputation. So we can see ever so slightly more of him than we see on the playing field? Big fucking deal. It's not like it's a picture of him in Thailand gettin' it on with some ladyboys.

No worries, I know you're flat-out with uni and stuffs. And I'd forget my own head if it wasn't bolted on.

 HOW?! Haven't you ever seen an 80s movie? He sang the theme to like every one of them.

His music really isn't terrible, just cheesy.

I have seen many '80s films, and it turns out that I know much of his work, but I guess I never watched enough of the credits or bought the CDs to learn who actually sang those songs. *L*

And ugh, even JJJ is reporting on that nekkid footy player thing, altho at least they're only devoting 5 seconds to it. Who knew lawyers used Twitter...

So, this was the second night in a row I've had a disturbingly realistic dream that someone I know has died. It's also like the 23rd night in a row that I haven't had enough sleep. I really don't want to have to drive for two hours tomorrow if I don't get 8 hours sleep tonight.

:crack:

What's going on down there?

Think I'll finally be done with Christmas shopping today!

I've probably spent more on Christmas shopping this year than I have in my entire life. I guess I hadn't really had the money to spend before, though ...

the internets have ruined me. Saw a dark wet spot on a dude's pants today. Instead of thinking "LOL pee" my brain instantly went to "Jizz in my pants". Sigh.
