How was home?

I really need to get Westway to the World, I wish somewhere would rent it around here.

I listened to London Calling on campus yesterday while I was doing homework.

home was the usual hell that it always is, with my sister telling me that everything i listen to is crap, and that i can't play the piano cos i'm too stupid to be able to read music well enough. the best thing was that my mom bought me all sorts of food at the grocery store, so now my fridge is full here

and she watched the springsteen tv special (and taped it for me) and actually decided to go buy an album, she got the rising, which i immediatly took and burnt a copy for myself. the store didn't have the regular cd, so she bought the special edition thingie with the 40 page cd booklet, which is really cool.

hmmm...that's a really tough desicion. cos give em enough rope is great, but the new best of has some excellent songs you need to get too...

there's more music on the greatest hits, i think i need to go dig up the exact track listing...what stuff from give em enough rope do you have already? and which purchase would get you more songs?

I just cant decide cause It seems like an album that any Clash fan really should have.

All I have is English Civil War and Tommy Gun so far.

The Best of will have :13. English Civil War
14. Tommy Gun
15. Safe European Home
16. Guns On The Roof
17. Drug Stabbing Time
18. Stay Free
19. Julie's Been Working For The Drug Squad

All from Give Em Enough Rope.
There are about 6 other songs other than those that I dont have on the Best of (the official title is "Essential Clash") That's about 11 songs total that I dont already have. There are 40 songs total on the 2 cd set.

oh definetly go with the essential clash compilation

and just download "all the young punks" or something, cos that's the only song you'd need that you wouldn't get from the best of

Yeah, 7 of 10 songs off of the album are on the Essential cd!! haha. I can just download the other 3 I suppose, or not even worry about it. We'll see.

I know when I get to the songs on the Essential album that are from London Calling I'll end up getting ticked every time because lots of my favorites were left out.

well, i just wrote out a long thing about my opinions on the track listing...for the most part it's good...only i had some issues with stuff from london calling missing, and sandinista but with sandinista it's really hard cos it IS a triple album afterall

but i had too many s after things that i couldn't think of something to say, and i got an error message and it ATE the whole thing...

I'm too lazy to trawl through the back pages, so can someone kindly post the 'Essential Clash' tracklisting again? Are there any b-sides included? I'm planning to get 'Super Black Market Clash' quite soon.

On a side note, what does everyone think of the Manic Street Preachers? They seem to be the most primarily Clash-influenced band I've heard, although their current sound leans towards a lot of bombastic strings and stuff.

I listened to some 30 sec clips...not good at all. Loud synths dominate.
