Here's the thing Zoomer and Angel. Though I agree that it would be nice to see that kind of effort throughout the entire game, we have to remember that what you see from them in that situation (being down by 2 with 5 mnutes left) is *desperation* hockey. They can't play that way for 60 minutes or they would be totally worn out. They're going 130%, full throttle. If you play a smart game, you should still be able to win at less than 100% throttle. The Detroits and Colorados win games at around 80%. That's where the Canucks would like to be, but so far it hasn't worked out for them. Next game, watch for them to be around 85, 90% all game, and I think you'll see a decisive win.

I like desperation hockey. I am still in shock from Friday night.

You mean when the Wild player purposely "tripped" over his stick to draw a penalty? They both should have gone off. The Wild player for diving.

Speaking of cheap, whose that player on the Wild with the full face shield on, but has no problem laying out cheap shots on all the players who don't wear one? He reminds me of Ulf Samuelson!

I have to make a comment about the officialling. These guys need to open their eyes and not be so afraid to make calls. There were at least three blatant penalties that should have been called against Minnisota last night and weren't. Nasty check into Bertuzzi's back at the end of the game comes to mind... hooking/tripping Linden......

Well, Linden was actually cross checked from behind (it takes a lot to lay him out on the ice, so it must have been hard). He didn't even see it coming. It took his back right out, and his face hit the ice. Dangerous indeed. Another dangerous play was when Morrison was tripped coming into the offensive zone along the boards (in the 2nd period). He went knees first into the boards. Again, no call. That hit on Naslund by the full face masked cheap shot artist, face first into the glass, wasn't pretty either but I could see why they didn't call that one.

Wasn't that Bertuzzi at the end of the game? Anyway... there was another incident where Trevor was totally hooked and fell forward flat.
I can't believe they didn't make those calls.

I don't know about Bertuzzi; all I know is that Linden got cross checked from behind right at the end of the game.

They asked the Wild player (Dowd?) if he covered the puck in the crease and tossed it out with his glove at the end of the game, and he said, "I don't know. You guys are the ones with the cameras."

Yeah, riiggghhht.

MG -
O.K. - you post s if Vancouver did NOTHING wrong. Why is it that people never see the cheap shota that their own team takes? It really pisses me off!

The whole Naslund hit was like any other hit - it just so happened that his face hit the glass - and then he flopped on the ground. What was the first thing he did as he got up? He looked for a reaction from the ref concerning his acting! It was crap acting - so no penalty.

You are just as bad as some of the parents I see at hockey rinks and arena - "oh my child would never do soemthing like that - he is an angel."

Vancouver had a number of cheap shots - and non-interference calls if you ask me. It was evenly matched when it came to calls for and against. If you do something like what Marshall (face mask - which he wears for protection becuase he dislocated his jaw in game seven against the Avs - not because he is a wuss).

sheez.

Your favorite poster title rating is going down fast!!!!

Hey, I told you I couldn't keep it up!

No, I'm being quite fair. Of course the Canucks aren't angels. It just so happened that a lot of the stuff the Canucks did (except for that elbow by Bertuzzi) was called, while most of the stuff the Wild did--and this is the important point--at *crucial* times of the game (ie, last 4 minutes) wasn't called. Also, the Canucks had some other bad breaks - ie, the too many men on the ice penalty that wasn't actually too many men, which led to the Wild's go ahead goal. (They reviewed it during intermission, and the player who was leaving the ice hadn't even touched the puck.) That's all I'm driving at. Those are the breaks though. On to next game.

My bad. I remembered it as being Bertuzzi. That was a nasty cross-check. Anyway... I hit my head yesterday. *See It's Official# Goose egg* lol That exonerates me of all mis-understandings.

Zoney! Back down dude! You'd think those were your boys playing hockey. Of course we did bad things, but the Naslund hit was nasty, and what about the cross-check Michael and I have been talking about? There were just some really blatant mishpas that got disregarded and I don't understand why. Officials are either too afraid to make ther calls in the playoffs or they make too many.

Angel, remember when Roloson dislodged the net at the end of the game? Once again, no call. This game seemed so biased that I have to wonder if there wasn't a little "interference" from the league office, if you know what I mean. The worst thing for the NHL in the US, afterall, would be two Canadian teams in the final. Do you know how much $$$ they'd lose? It would be an insane amount. May as well try and weed them out early, right? (I'm half joking. Half.)

Documented disgruntlement. Faceoff.com never lies and YES I just made up a new word.

"The Wild apparently have lots of life left in them, as they demonstrated Sunday night with a 3-2 victory at General Motors Place that turned ugly at the end.

At the centre of it all was Wild defenceman Willie Mitchell, the Port McNeill product who came off the bench when he should have been in the dressing room to join in a fracas after the final whistle had sounded.

"Todd Bertuzzi got a 10-game suspension for that," said Canuck winger Jarkko Ruutu, referring to a suspension Bertuzzi received last season. Mitchell and Canuck Trevor Linden had received roughing penalties with seven seconds left in the third period and were sent to their respective dressing rooms. Mitchell, apparently, didn't go and could, but probably won't, receive a suspension from the league office.

The Canucks probably should have received a penalty shot with just under a minute left when Mitchell looked to close his hand on the puck during a wild scramble in front of Minnesota goalie Dwayne Roloson, who replaced Game 1 starter Manny Fernandez."

I underlined the most notable points.

See, this is where I am fair and balanced. I was thinking the whole time while watching the post-game crap that Mitchell should be suspended for that crap. NOT COOL AT ALL. When the damn ref sends you to the dressing room - GO!

I really try to watch the games and see the bad and good from both sides. I will just as quickly yell at the (TV) Wild players for stupid/rough stuff as I would the other team. And I do. I guess it comes from being a former sports journo.

As for the beginning of that piece....Wild apparently have a lot of life left in them....What is that? Did someone say they were dead or something? Playing flat? They looked good last two nights if you ask me! Both teams looked pretty good - no lack of life anywhere in B.C. or Minn.

Oh, and notice how I haven't said ANYTHING about the crowd throwing beer at the Wild after the post game rucous?! I saw two beverages fly from the hands of Cnucks fans. What I fear (as reflected in MG's joke - some STUPID drunk Wild fan will try and do the same. on dumb drunk fans. Beer is not to be abused like that.

It's soooo true! I hate that. I would LOVE to see Vancouver play Ottawa in the finals. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!! Ratings would be soooo horrible here in the U.S. - oh man! I would watch every game though.

Such two different types of teams. It would be one hell of a series! We'll see what happens. Vancouver has to get past the Wild - nevermind the ducks/stars. And Ottawa has to get by New Jersey (and, despite being a Devils fan since they moved to NJ - I don't want to see them in the finals.)
