The best songs of the last five years. 2000-2005

FIFTEEN songs from 1st January 2000 - 31st May 2005/present day depending on how long this thread lasts.

Yes, that means NOTHING from 31st December 1999 or before. I know how people like to TRY and include 'illicit' tracks in lists, thinking "Oh, I'm SO sorry I couldn't BEAR to not include this tune from 1998..." is going to be good enough...

I'm currently finishing my list, but someone start us off...see if you can remind me of some I've forgotten

ONE U2 track only.

(In no partic. order)

(1) U2 - City of Blinding Lights (needn't say any more about this one)
(2) Franz Ferdinand - Take me Out (not earthshattering, but still 'a masterpiece' 45 as Bono called it)
(3) Kelis - Caught Out There (Loud and funky)
(4) Moby - Porcelain
(5) Radiohead - We Suck Young Blood (I wanted to pick something from "Hail to the Thief" and decided to settle on this)
(6) Kylie - Can't get you out of my head (Ditto Mr Gloria's comment above)
(7) The Bravery - Honest Mistake (The best of the nu-wave)
(8) Christina Aguilera - Beautiful
(9) Pet Shop Boys - Flamboyant (Under-rated, worth checking out)
(10) The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army

This was the era when mainstream pop reasserted itself and many of the choices on my list reflect that!

I've heard "Catch my Disease" and like it. Will get the album soon. Loved Grandpaw Would and Breathing Tornadoes. Not impressed with the last record. Thanks for the input.
