I know that this might not belong here, but while we're waiting anxiously for the next U2 album, in the hope that it will make it into a list like this, I was wondering what everyone else was listening to at the moment? What would be your favourite albums...EVER!? Including U2 but no best ofs or compilations! I know it's not strictly a U2 thing but it's worth a go, just out of interest!

To start off, I'll put in my own choice which might seem far beyond my own years but it's what I like so...

1. Deja Vu - Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young
2. Astral Weeks - Van Morrison
3. The Band - The Band
4. The Joshua Tree - U2
5. Is This It - The Strokes
6. Blue - Joni Mitchell
7. Born To Run - Bruce Springsteen
8. The Unforgettable Fire - U2
9. The Freewheelin' - Bob Dylan
10. If I Could Only Remember My Name - David Crosby

Phew! That was not easy!

And the best of the last couple of years would have to be Damien Rice's O, Kings of Leon's Youth and Young Manhood, and, the best band around at the moment, The Darkness's Permission to Land.

Any comments? I'm prepared to be torn to pieces over this. Oh and I know it's probably an old thing to do but I never hardly post anyway so I said why not!

Well, very difficult to name my favourite albums of all time, but i will give it a try. In no particular order:

1) Achtung baby - U2
2) Let me come over - Buffalo Tom
3) Mellon collie and the infinite sadness - Smashing Pumpkins
4) Gentlemen - Afghan Whigs
5) Ok computer - Radiohead
6) Where you been - Dinosaur jr
7) Crooked rain, crooked rain - Pavement
8) The Tenessee fire - My Morning Jacket
9) Ten - Pearl Jam
10) Siamese dreams - Smashing Pumkins

As you can see a lot of albums from the 90s, in my opinion an exciting period in the history of music. Too bad a lot of those bands no longer exist.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw patrickU217's listing of Let Me Come Over by Buffalo Tom. It's comforting to know that someone else recognized the genius of that album.

Here goes with a list of all time faves and current faves. No U2 in my list because that just wouldn't be fair to the other bands. :)

7. The Beatles - Rubber Soul
8. Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstacy
9. David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust
10. The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

I made a choice not to include more than one album by the same artist, otherwise you would have seen The Unforgettable Fire and OK Computer in there, too.

1. U2 - Achtung Baby
2. U2 - The Joshua Tree
3. Lifehouse - No Name Face
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way
5. Savage Garden - Affirmation

10. INXS - Elegantly Wasted

That list changes around quite often though...well perhaps not the first few, but there are too many great albums to just pick 10 :slant:. Plus it's even harder putting them in order
