The Beatles on 1 disc for my car...

1. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
2. With A Little Help From My Friends
3. If I Fell
4. The Night Before
5. Norwegian Wood
6. In My Life
7. I'm Only Sleeping
8. She Said She Said
9. For No One
10. Tomorrow Never Knows
11. Being For The Benefit Of Mr.Kite
12. I Am The Walrus
13. Strawberry Fields Forever
14. Penny Lane
15. All You Need Is Love
16. Glass Onion
17. Martha My Dear
18. Blackbird
19. Julia
20. Something
21. Oh Darling
22. Because
23. You Never Give Me Your Money
24. Across The Universe (Past Masters version)
25. Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (reprise)
26. A Day In The Life

Yes... it does fit on an 80 min disc!

Songs 1, 2, 25 and 26 are just book ends, really.. although I would have included A Day in the Life in any case! But I pretty much selected my favorite songs from most of the albums.

If you had to fit it all in one disc, would it look like mine or completely different?

my disc would be pretty similar to yours...
except I'd put 'It Wont Be Long' on there.

I'll give it a shot, in sort-of-chronological order:
  1. "She Loves You"
  2. "All I've Got To Do"
  3. "All My Loving"
  4. "Things We Said Today"
  5. "She's A Woman"
  6. "Help!"
  7. "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away"
  8. "Ticket To Ride"
  9. "I've Just Seen A Face"
  10. "I'm Looking Through You"
  11. "In My Life"
  12. "We Can Work It Out"
  13. "She Said, She Said"
  14. "For No One"
  15. "I Want To Tell You"
  16. "Across the Universe" (Anthology version)
  17. "Strawberry Fields Forever"
  18. "Penny Lane"
  19. "A Day In the Life" (the version that's on the Blue Album or the Imagine soundtrack, without the crossfade-in or the weird shit at the end)
  20. "The Inner Light"
  21. "Dear Prudence"
  22. "Blackbird"
  23. "Don't Let Me Down"
  24. "Old Brown Shoe"
  25. "Let It Be" (Spector version)
  26. "Two of Us"
  27. "Something"
I wish I didn't have to cut so much early stuff to make everything fit, but there you go.

(Edit: Interestingly, that comes out to:

Lennon: 12
McCartney: 11
Harrison: 4)

I love that song!!!

I like your compilation a lot. Things We Said Today and All My Loving are excellent choices... the former being a hidden gem on A Hard Day's Night and the latter is probably my favorite early Beatles song.. and it's not even on any album! Haven't really heard All I've Got To Do and She's A Woman. I don't have Beatles For Sale.

Oh... and do you mind sending me that version of A Day In The Life? The main reason I book ended my compilation with the Sgt. Peppers songs is so the album version of Day doesn't sound frickin weird in the middle of the album with crowd noise and backwards looping insanity.

My email is muralee_s@hotmail.com. I would appreciate it.

I've got to head back to university from home tomorrow morning (, spring break is gone so soon).

I'll try to put together a good 25 or so sometime tomorrow afternoon though.

1 // Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
2 // With a Little Help from My Friends
3 // Tomorrow Never Knows
4 // Come Together
5 // Revolution 1
6 // Help!
7 // Rain
8 // Twist and Shout
9 // Day Tripper
10 // In My Life
11 // Norwegian Wood
12 // Blackbird
13 // Here Comes the Sun
14 // Yesterday
15 // Strawberry Fields Forever
16 // Eleanor Rigby
17 // Let It Be
18 // A Day in the Life
19 // Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds
20 // Happiness is a Warm Gun
21 // Across the Universe
22 // Hey Jude
23 // The Long and Winding Road
24 // Golden Slumbers
25 // Carry That Weight
26 // The End

I wish I could fit Lady Madonna, She Loves You, Two of Us, Get Back, All You Need is Love, The Fool on the Hill, Penny Lane, Michelle, The Ballad of John and Yoko, I'm Looking Through You, Back in the USSR, and We Can Work It Out on there too

I'll have to give a listen to some of these songs. Especially the alternate versions Typhoon listed.

It's hard to believe they did this much in only 6-7 years.

I love your list Zoots. Kudos for your inclusion of I'm Only Sleeping and You Never Give Me Your Money. The only things I probably would change would be adding "Long long long" and trying to stop myself from saying "fuck it" and including the entire second side of Abbey Road.

Alright, I'm not going to put them in any sort of order:

1. Dear Prudence
2. In My Life
4. Strawberry Fields Forever
5. She Said She Said
6. I Want You (She's So Heavy)
7. Golden Slumbers
8. Come Together
9. Hey Jude
10. Don't Let Me Down
11. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
12. I Feel Fine
13. Let It Be
14. Eleanor Rigby
15. Here Comes The Sun
16. From Me To You
17. Tomorrow Never Knows
18. Within You Without You
19. Across The Universe
20. Something
21. Blackbird
22. Get Back
23. I Will
24. I Am The Walrus
25. All You Need Is Love

Something like that, although it's difficult to whittle it down to just 25

Thanks lancemc! I agree that Long Long Long is beautiful but to tell you the truth, I haven't even listened to that song too many times. I don't remember how it goes or what the lyrics are. Maybe it's time to give it another spin.

imp... nice! Your list is quite similar to mine in the songs chosen. I so wanted to include either Within You Without You or Love You To as an Indian music inspired track but just didn't have the space on the CD!
