Yikes man. tipping isn't just about money. It's a language. It's an art. And yes it is how the bartenders get paid. You can actually get kicked out of bars for not tipping in my town. (and any other town for that matter)

Where I come from the bartenders get paid a set wage independant of being tipped. But for the price of drinks over the bar they must get paid quite nicely.
