Pittsburgh isn't playing Crosby in their match against the Flyers this afternoon.

Is it to rest him, to ensure he doesn't get bruised by the Flyers or is it b/c they'd rather play the Sens in the playoffs?

ETA: This game is totally contrived; the Pens obviously want to play Ottawa. Be careful what you wish for when you pull stuff like that!
Oh well, good for us, Montreal will finish first in the East!

Senrab, are you currently in D.C. now?

If so, can you enlighten me as to the mood in the city vis-a-vis the Capitals? It seemed like the fans were going bonkers last night—really boisterous and enthusiastic. I'm aware that D.C. is Redskins country, and now with the new ballpark the Nationals must be getting more attention. I know you're a Sabres fan, but you're lucky to be able to see Ovechkin as often as you do (on TV at least). He really is a phenom.

I'm tempted to bet because either way I'd feel like I won!!

I'm love, love my Habs but don't think this is their year. Next year they have a date with destiny with their 100th anniversary

Here are my predictions:

Montreal 4 - Boston 2
Pittsburgh 4 - Ottawa 2
Washington 4 - Philadelphia 2
New Jersey 4 - NY Rangers 3

I'm not that familiar with the West so I'll just pick the winners instead of the no. of games
Detroit - Nashville : Detroit
San Jose - Calgary : San Jose (but Calgary will give them a good run for their money)
Minnesota - Colorado : Colorado
Anaheim - Dallas : Anaheim

Montreal - Washington - Washington
Pittsburgh - New Jersey - Pittsburgh

Detroit - Colorado : Colorado (sorry April!)
San Jose - Anaheim : San Jose

Washington - Pittsburgh : Pittsburgh

San Jose - Colorado : San Jose

San Jose - Pittsburgh : San Jose

San Jose wins...

Yes, I live in DC now.

The Caps are in quite a different spot than they were a year ago. I remember attending the last Caps home game of the season one year ago because they were playing the Sabres and we outnumbered the Caps fans by a mile. Out of curiosity, I stayed for the fan appreciation "shirts off our backs" and there was hardly anyone there except for the diehard fans who have hung with the team since the days of the old Cap Center when the Caps made the playoffs every year. Now this year, with the new uniforms and the fact that the team is doing so much better (and with those blockbuster trades) they are getting a lot more attention on the front Sports page of the Washington Post and these past few games have been sellouts.

I still would never call DC a "hockey town" and I'm sure OV can go anywhere he wants without being recognized, but more and more people are taking notice of them, I would say. I cannot get into the Caps because I love my hometown and my Sabres too much, but Ovie is currently my favorite player and I am happy for them and their fans. They were in the shitter 4 months ago and look where they are now.

Oops, I'm obviously not very good either as I got the match up wrong.

So revised:

Montreal - NJ : Montreal
Pittsburgh - Washington - Pittsburgh

Montreal - Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh

I thought I got it wrong - does the best seed always play the worst seed in each round?

Only the first and second rounds - the semi-finals and finals (obviously), no.

Surprisingly (or not!), there are still $65 tickets remaining for the Sens-Pens match-up...on a Saturday night, no less!.....should I go?

Or take my chance on getting tix for the second-round in Montreal?
Bonomaniac - you'll have to let me know of any tips you have on securing said tix!
