I don't want to get into a fight about this, but saying people can die in a fire because of $2,000 plus tax does seem over the top for me. Like I said though, I do feel sorry for you getting stuck in this situation, and I would be frustrated and furious as well.

I checked out all three local papers and I'm afraid there's no mention of the Roger Waters gig. Sorry.

On a different note, I was about to go to the Sens rally at City Hall down the street but changed my mind when I found out Harper was the special guest

[The] final will be contested by an anonymous Canadian city (by that I mean not Montreal or Toronto), and an American city that gets absolutely no snow in the winter, and in fact has no winter. - Tony Kornheiser

About sums up my feelings about the Stanley Cup Finals this year.

Great news, GG...I would have been losing my shit, too. I actually wish I was going with you. Especially to Ottawa - I think I would have to buy a Ducks jersey just for the trip!

I still don't get all this Senators hate across Canada. I mean it's baffling. What's the difference between the Senators and the Flames/Oilers? They're all Canadian teams!

And you'd think that with what Pronger did to the Oilers last season there wouldn't be much support for the Ducks!

So does everyone figure this will be the lowest rated finals ever with no one really giving a damn. Not to mention the almost week off, which has killed any hockey playoff fever I had.

^I think so. I believe I read somewhere that the first Stanley Cup game in June was in 1992 or thereabouts. Things have been progressively getting worse since then, ratings-wise anyway. I think there is a definite correlation between a general decline in interest and the late playoff games.

Something has to be done and Bettman is not the one to do it. There was a conspiracy theory floating around that David Stern sent Bettman to the NHL to sabotage it. I'm actually starting to believe it. After the Rangers Cup win in 1994 the NHL was on the cusp of a major breakthrough which all but eroded since then.

I had forgotten when the games were, since I haven't watched hockey in a week or two, but got an email from some friends who are going to our bar to watch it tonight, so I'll be putting in an appearance.

Go Sens!

So I'm automatically supposed to root for a team I normally despise just because of the chance of geography? Give me a break.

If it were 3 Canadian teams and 1 American team, you can be damn sure American hockey fans wouldn't rally around the only US team, so why do people act like I'm a traitor to my country if I don't automatically cheer for the only Canadian team??

Besides, as trev said, there's a lot more Canadians on the Ducks than there are playing for Ottawa anyways.
