What a surprise

Change is not in the Leafs vocabulary

In my opinion, this is a selfish move by Sundin. A rental player or not, the market price was set pretty high for a player of Sundin's calibre, with the trades of Peter Forsberg and Keith Tkachuk last year. A Sundin trade would have netted the Leafs at least one first rounder with two or three young prospects, which is what they need right now, and what they will not get thanks to Sundin. The irony is that he's hurting a team he says he loves dearly, and I don't think he'll return next year anyway.

Wow, I'm pretty surprised by this. He's always talking about what's best for the team and like Bonomaniac said, his trade could have yielded a few good prospects!

I wonder if he will retire this year

$20 to the first person that can find me a Youtube highlight (the TSN.ca version skips badly) of Alexander Semin's goal tonight.

Shit! That goal was awesome. Is it just me, or has this been the year of the amazing goal?

The very definition of it.

I'm actually not tied to a favourite team at the moment. Ever since Wayne left New York, it's been a very difficult time for me.

Forsberg signs with the Avs for the rest of the year.

A healthy Forsberg makes things very interesting, considering the close races in the standings.

Well, since Toronto is winning 5-0 against one of the best teams in th East I'd say anything is possible! Okay, maybe not winning the Cup, but perhaps qualifying at least...

I don't envy Cliff Fletcher at this stage.

I'm watching that game right now! If I lost all my limbs, or became suddenly unemployed, I would sit and watch hockey all day long. My take on Mats and the team: This whole event could actually solidify the works of them, and push them into the playoffs, as you say. It actually took a lot of guts for Mats to not take off for a bonafide contender like Ray Bourque did a number of years ago in Boston. He's showing commitment... something that might spread to his teammates.

He sure is injury-prone, but the word on the street is that he's in good shape.
