i dont get the 21st century teenager or even the tweens, i was at one of my friend sites and it didnt look like mine(like the pics and the wording of things) and i hit a link and it went to an 11 yr olds site and it had some pretty harsh words and pretty bad pics and i thought wtf"i would never put that on my own site" and i just want to know if im diffent cause instead of hillary duff and the other pop tarts im lisening to U2, pink floyd and interpol and unerground music and where are the teens headed and what will happen to the tweens will they be pregnant at 14!:(

I'm 16 and I can't stand internet language (wtf, omg, etc.) My sister actually talks like that when she's not on the internet, and it drives me insane. Also, my myspace page isn't all obscene and most of my friends' aren't either. Sure, there's occasional swearing, but nothing excessive.

Honestly, I don't think teens are any more "bad" now than at any other point in history, it's just that the "bad" stuff manifests itself in different ways in society.

 "Badness" is all relative.

^ Exactly, I'm 15 and only a minority of teenagers are as bad as people expect all teenagers to be... most of them are pretty much as normal as the next non-teenager(ish)

20 years ago, a 10 yr old couldn't just go "online" in his room, and stare at porn, read how to get laid, etc. There were no Maxim magazines around for kids to read. This stuff really doesn't help a confused young adolescent understand the opposite sex and creates the wrong expectations about women. In order to get the Playboys and stuff, we had to work really hard to get our hands on it, and be really sneaky. Those skills gave us better work ethic and more appreciation for all our naughty stuff.

Eventually, they all grow out of this annoying stage, we all do, unfortunately, some kids lose their way in life during this time and become total idiots like ummm, Paris Hilton. Like anything, some teenagers are shitheads while others are amazing people with great qualities.

My son's not even a teenager yet (11), and I already catch myself thinking "get a haircut"...... :reject:

Hopefully, that will be the least of your worries but I doubt it.

Well, it's today's society... Turn on your TV and switch channel until you get one that an average teenager would watch. MTV perhaps ? What kind of things do you see there ? Ladies half naked and dancing, shaking their ass for money ? Then we wonder why our youth is all fucked up ahah... Nobody can tell what is wrong and what is right anymore and teens (generalisation) do what their friends do, what TV shows them or the net. We don't have the same parents we had 30 years ago either. Unless I'm wrong ? More permissive today.

But what really piss me off is not more the kids of 14 that dress like whores to go to school and act like they were already women of 30, but the fact that it doesn't seem to botter anyone. Woman's a toy, media shows it. But they do nothing and act like they're being shown. When you try to stand for your rights, they point you and say : "What a feminist ! Oh my god... you exagerate..."

I'm 17 and happy to have a head on my shoulders ;)

This is an issue with bad parenting, not "bad teens" in general. If parents spend thousands of dollars so a friggin 10 year old can have his own PC and unmonitored access to the web, that's a different issue altogether.

Ahahah true... you can play doctor as a kid, silly innocent games, but at 11 I was trading Pokemon cards and not even thinking about these things ;) More and more it seems kids/teenagers lose their virginity at young age. It's just too bad, loosing innocence at 10 or 11 :(

experimenting with kissing is hardly loosing viginity. It's fine for kids to experiment and be curious about their sexuality. The problem comes when their parents aren't giving them the right information or encouraging them in the right direction, so all of their info about sex and relationships comes from TV shows, magazines, and what their friends say. Again, the issue is in parenting, not bad teens. Parents need to be more involved in their kids' lives so that kids are more confident and have the right knowledge about sex and relationships.

I know the little girl she talked about only made out but I heard of cases where the kids actualy did it. The youngest case I've been told about was 6, and I know the two persons implied in the thing. That is... ah... horrible ? The girl simply told me that she wanted to do like she saw on TV at the time and that she regretted.

I'm glad my parents always were very open with me. I can talk about it openly and my mother answered all my questions without any timidity or repulsion.

I agree with the parenting but parents can't watch or protect their kids from everything in society. When I was a kid, the only thing questionable for me to look at in magazine store was the top shelf with Playboy, Penthouse, Genesis and maybe a couple of other mags. The magazines that were out there were not giving oral sex tips or having every female celebrity appear semi-naked in raccoon makeup in every issue like FHM. There are more magazines like Maxim on the newstands now than there were adult magazines when I was a kid. Cosmo and their ilk aren't helpful for the girls either. The information in these magazines is just trash. And vendors will sell this trash to any age group, they don't care since they don't carry an age limit like adult mags.

I think it is WAY harder for a parent to be involved and inform their kids than in the past. The internet, 100 or more channels, we had 5-8 if we were lucky, music videos, dvds, video games, I don't have kids but I'm sure parents must feel overwhelmed with trying to keep their kids grounded plus many people have no idea how to talk to their kids about these issues which is unfortunate.

^music videos are the worst, ill stick 2 vertigo thank you!

Ahaha it reminds me... I was watching muchmusic with my grandma on the 1st of January and hey passed a clip of Mariah Carrey... She was like : OMG ! What is that woman doing ? Showing all her ass like this !

She's was overacting a bit, but she's still right ;) U2 turns me on a lot more than rappers with their thousands of semi-naked girls dancing around them. U2... Long live rock ;)

i have no problem with the likes of run DMC and public enemy. i even tolerate eminem sometimes. but stuff these days IS crap. :| its all samey. i wish for once someone would breakout and do something different. the last "different" thing i heard was outkasts hey ya.

oh, erm with regards to teenagers and kids these days, i think its safe to say kids have always been unruly and hard to control, but in this day and age, kids are growing up to fast. they seem to forget childhood completely, and are missing out the innocent part of their life. :( its a shame, because if things keep going the way they are, id hate to bring my kids up (if i ever have any) in this sort of environment. i see it in school, not even like rumours, but people openly disscusing who slept with who, and people taking drugs downtown at lunchtime. :| i know for fact at least 2 people in my year have been, or are pregnant.

its gone too far. :slant:
