It's good, but I think Lovetown had a number of much better sets.

Incidentally, TranceEnding was at that show. Yes, I am jealous.

Process of elimination: 7 October 1989, Melbourne?
Bingo.

Right after I posted, I noticed the Waltzing Matilda snippet.

I guess you're not around often when Ali or Jen are here?

But they're not around at all hours like Varitek is.

Don't worry, that wasn't much of a clue besides narrowing down the country (which had 23 of 47 shows!). I didn't find or add that snippet myself and I actually don't recall seeing it before. Matthias might have added it recently. As that set is fairly generic Lovetown-wise, I had to use process of elimination. I mainly knew what it couldn't be.

But still, that setlist is probably better than 95% of what's come after it.

Axver, I know you have your ideal setlists and all, but what's your favorite set that U2 actually did?

Hell yes. This alone makes it worth it:

The Unforgettable Fire
God Part II
Desire
All Along The Watchtower

FUCK YEAH.

Any of those songs would be amazing. Just one. Any of them. But no fucking pansy half ass Desire.

Hard to say, really. I've narrowed it down to ten in this blog entry.

Probably if you forced me to pick, I'd take 21 September 1989, Perth, the first Lovetown gig:

1. Hawkmoon 269
2. Desire
3. All Along The Watchtower
4. All I Want Is You
5. Where The Streets Have No Name
6. I Will Follow
7. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
8. One Tree Hill
9. God Part II
10. In God's Country
11. People Get Ready
12. Bad
13. October
14. New Year's Day
15. Pride (In The Name Of Love)
16. Bullet The Blue Sky
17. Running To Stand Still
18. With Or Without You

encore(s):
19. Angel Of Harlem
20. When Love Comes To Town
21. Love Rescue Me
22. 40
