There was this little old lady, who used to bring tamales to my aunt and uncle. She lived in the neighborhood and every year at Christmas would cheerfully deliver them to several of her neighbors. It was traditional in her culture. I'm not even sure she knew my aunt and uncle all that well, but it didn't matter.

I think because she was up in years she couldn't do it any longer as of a few years ago. Nevertheless, I thought that was one of the coolest things a person could do.

What a generous spirit she was.

Anyone who passes out tamales at Christmastime to their neighbors is a complete stud (or studette).

My mom used to get hers from a neighborhood guy but he's not around anymore....my sister in law does them for us but they've never been as good as the street vendor from Anaheim...plus she's tight and only gives us a few to take home.
