My username is the feminine version of "vert", a heraldric term referring to the color green. I'm in a medieval re-enactment society that uses heraldry, that's where I got it. 76 is the anniversary year of my country; a little patriotism is involved as well.

Flann O'Brien, by the way, was a genius.
My friend just lent me The Third Policeman. Haven't started it yet, and I'd never even heard of him before a few weeks ago.

You can probably guess my influence. I actually first made it up just for here, as my usual U2-related user name, Melon, was already taken here by, um, melon. I do use this one on other non-U2 music boards now, 'cos Melon doesn't quite pack the same punch in a non-U2 setting.

The Third Policeman is a superb book too, if a little (ok, a lot) off the wall. Very funny, but At-Swim-Two-Birds is just genius. His columns from the Irish Times when he wrote under the name Myles na gCopaleen are collected in 'The Best of Myles' too which is a great read. He also wrote some works in Irish, one of which, 'An Beal Bocht', is translated as 'The Poor Mouth', a brilliant satire on the Irish Gaelic revival in the early twentieth century.

Hope you enjoy the book!

Dalton because if you screw with me, my old mentor with the gravely voice, my woman, my good car, or my bar - I will rip your throat out with my bare hand.

If you mess with anything else, I will resort to my zen like calm and peacefully escort you off the board while the ladies check out my ass in their faded blue confines...

seen that one many times.

"you mean being called a cocksucker ain't personal?"
"no, it's just two words put together to elicit a prescribed response"
"uh huh,...well...what if someone calls my mama a whore?!?"
"is she?"

so..yea...I've seen it couple times.

I thought my name was pretty self-explanatory (given the FC should come first but that's just a technicality! ) until someone thought, it was after "Bayer" as in the drug company!
