Well Jesus kissed his mother's hands
Whispered "Mother, still your tears,
For remember the soul of the universe
Willed a world and it appeared"

This whole song is powerful ("Jesus Was an Only Son")

Yes.

I think most of his lyrics are great, but I like this bit from Human Touch:

"Oh girl that feeling of safety you prize
Well it comes at a hard hard price
You can't shut off the risk and the pain
Without losin' the love that remains
We're all riders on this train"

The Rangers had a homecoming
In Harlem late last night
And the Magic Rat drove his sleek machine
Over the Jersey state line
Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge
Drinking warm beer in the soft summer rain
The Rat pulls into town rolls up his pants
Together they take a stab at romance
And disappear down Flamingo Lane

Well the Maximum Lawmen run down Flamingo
Chasing the Rat and the barefoot girl
And the kids round here look just like shadows
Always quiet, holding hands
From the churches to the jails
Tonight all is silence in the world
As we take our stand
Down in Jungleland

I don't know all of Bruce's lyrics very well, but this a song that I've always loved. Not only are the words beautiful but musically it's pretty powerful as well. Tunnel of Love may be his most personal record so it's not surprising.

VALENTINES DAY

I'm driving a big lazy car rushin' up the highway in the dark
I got one hand steady on the wheel and one hand's temblin' over my heart
it's pounding baby like it's gonna bust right on through
and it ain't gonna stop till I'm alone again with you

A friend of mine became a father last night
when we spoke in his voice I could hear the light
of the skies and the rivers the timberwolf in the pines
and that great jukebox out on Route 39
they say he travels fastest who travels alone
but tonight I miss my girl mister tonight I miss my home

Is it the sound of the leaves
left blown by the wayside
that's got me out here on this spooky old highway tonight
is it the cry of the river
witht he moonlight shining through
that ain't what scares me baby
what scares me is losing you

They say if you die in your dreams you really die in your bed
but honey last night I dreamed my eyes rolled straight back in my head
and God's light came shinin' on through
I woke up in the darkness scared and breathin' and born anew
it wasn't the cold river bottom I felt rushing over me
it wasn't the bitterness of a dream that didn't come true
it wasn't the wind in the grey fields I felt rushing through my arms
no no baby it was you
so hold me close honey say you'll be forever mine
and tell me you'll be my lonely valentine.

"So I took what I had from the Central Trust
And I bought me a ticket on that close city bus
........................................................
Put your make-up on and get your hair up pretty,
and meet me tonight in Atlantic city
come meet me tonite in Atlantic city."

Quote from memory, so may not be 100%

Now our luck may have died and our love may be cold but with you forever I'll stay
We're goin' out where the sand's turnin' to gold so put on your stockin's baby `cause the night's getting cold
And everything dies baby that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back (Atlantic City)

You and me we were the pretenders
We let it all slip away
In the end what you don't surrender
Well the world just strips away
Girl, ain't no kindness in the face of strangers
Ain't gonna find no miracles here
Well you can wait on your blesses my darlin'
But I got a deal for you right here
(Human Touch - well the whole song is great)

Sometimes it's like someone took a knife baby
edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
through the middle of my soul
(I'm On Fire)

Now those memories come back to haunt me
they haunt me like a curse
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true
Or is it something worse
that sends me down to the river
though I know the river is dry
(The River)

You can hide `neath your covers
And study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers
Throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain
For a savior to rise from these streets
Well now I'm no hero
That's understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl
Is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now
(Thunder Road)

Jungleland

I would say the entire song.
