The expected breakdown of the Yankees this year...

Ticket sales $100 million
Local broadcast rights $68.5 million
Parking, concessions, suites, sponsorship $60 million
MLB pooled revenue $22 million
Other $40 million
Total $290.5M
Costs
Payroll $187 million
Minor leagues, lease, front office, travel $35 million
Luxury tax $20 million
Revenue sharing $48 million
Total $290M

for those of us who aren't math majors, that comes out to a total profit of half a million dollars... baisicly break even. the x factor is, of course, that the expected playoff revenue would then push them over the break even mark and into the black.

if you invest in your product, the people will come, and it will pay for it's self. this is a concept sorely lacking by the likes of the milwaukee brewers, pittsburgh pirates, etc. etc.

and remember, the yankees are not paying the full 25 million per on that contract... the rangers are eating a HUGE chunk of a-rod's contract. the yankees will only be paying 15 mill a year for rodriguez. you're telling me there aren't other teams out there besides the yankees that could afford 15 per for the best player in baseball? the mets couldn't do that? the dodgers? the cubs, white sox, red sox, orioles? bull dinky

That breakdown sounds like a good Mastercard commercial:
Payroll: $187Mil
Minor Leagues: $35 Mil
Luxury Tax: $20 Mil
Revenue sharing: $48 Mil
Daily Costanza Calzone: $5.50
Steinbrenner having a conniption on national TV when Yanks lose: Priceless

[zoo confessional] I read all the sports pages daily for any news from the Angels' camp in AZ and I look for the daily updates on the Yahoo Spring Training photo gallery. Any little nugget of information coming from halo camp gets me excited. Yes, I'm a sick, sick human being. [/zoo confessional]

increases water mass... the "big head" side effect is nothing more than bloating. when ya' come off the stuff for an extended period of time, the bloating of your head goes down.

for example... this man is obviously on steroids, due to his over-sized head...
