Split Enz Salivation & Celebration

Let's not beat around the bush.

This band were sENZational! I will admit that I fell into this band as a by-product of being completely & utterly in love with Crowded House... but what a by product it was.

They truly were the peak of both Eclectica & Nu-Wave Pop... a very difficult accomplishment. Producing the highlights of Tim Finn's career & the birthplace of Neil Finn's - Split Enz truly were one of the greatest bands ever.

The spoons, the outfits, the lyrics, the bizzare, the gold records.

For the complete Split Enz story...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_Enz

For the concise version here are some tunes... again in the order of most famous to least famous:

I Got You - True Colours, 1980http://s29.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=06BCP8KSC023W37UX0YWWQL73N
History Never Repeats - Waiata, 1981http://s24.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=0WZ5A95MB5PB910SWZOLN5Y3NU
Six Months In A Leaky Boat - Time & Tide, 1982http://s34.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=1SNJRM7IC3M8A1BNEIGWSSGXV0
Message To My Girl - Conflicting Emotions, 1983http://s24.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=0ZQHZD5F31R5Y290M1BBP546QW
I See Red - Frenzy, 1979 http://s29.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=1S6R9364Z7LZR1ATRUBQZONJP0
Dirty Creature - Time & Tide, 1982http://s29.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=2HACIPAA6NXN220MQLLA444EAS
Poor Boy - True Colours - 1980http://s30.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=2EYA2TGE2ZNMG3EEDWW5E70BZQ
I Walk Away - See Ya 'Round, 1984 http://s23.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=1YJ8691JD18Q12Z89SDL8WAVZ3

Now some personal favourites:

Sweet Dreams - Second Thoughts/Mental Notes, 1975http://s23.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=2DX2E7FOJYSPL2Q29QIC0F7KBD
Charlie - Dizrythmia, 1977 http://s24.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=2XXYZ4W9PEBYX2KG572VDCTQ9J
Hard Act To Follow - Waiata, 1981 http://s36. .com/d.aspx?id=1AH7NY8B9RBU71FQBEPZLTBIZM
My Mistake - Dizrythmia, 1977 http://s36.ysi.com/d.aspx?id=0L5RLJ9GKIV400SVEWHEI4KQ7R

I still haven't put up my favourite Bold As Brass. The definitive version of that will be released tommorow on the ExtravagENZa CD.

Most regretful Enz moment:

I went to my city's University O-Ball where Split Enz were playing on the End of the Enz tour. I watched the support - Sandii and the Sunsetz and was too pissed and distracted to watch the Enz.

Slaps self on wrist.

(I think it was the same night *too many dead brain cells *)

Sandii and the Sunsetz I have them on vinyl too. lol

Splitz Enz are just plain evil. I cant be bothered writing my story about Split Enx/INXS again but yeah, I have "issues" with Split Enz.

i bought a phonograph for like $100. i hooked it up to my stereo and i can listen to my wonderful records as often as i want. it plays 33s, 45s, and even 78s!

phonographs can be had for cheap, at least here in the states. have you looked into how much it would cost to buy one?

Sandii was gorgeous. So beautiful.

I need to get a whole new stereo. I have nothing to play music on at the moment, apart from this computer but that doesnt count. "Real" music doesnt come out of crappy computer speaker.

BEG, do you have any Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra CDs? I only have Pioneers and I would love to have the album that has their version of Baby Elephant Walk

But I've left it too late. I haven't seen their CDs in shops for years.
