I really love PJ. I missed about half of her act when I went to see U2 in 2001, but what I saw was great. She's an absolutely brilliant songwriter, and though Stories from the City, Stories From the Sea is not indicative of her usual lyrical bent, it's an incredibly beautiful and textured album nevertheless. This is an album I've probably listened to hundreds of times without getting tired of it. Anyway, I think this song is gorgeous beyond words. The faint piano, the gentle guitar, and her sexy delivery... just wow. She's wonderful. This is a pretty simple song by her standards, but you know, that's not always a bad thing. Also, the video for this song is :combust:

"A Place Called Home"
PJ Harvey

One day I know
We'll find a place of hope
Just hold on to me
Just hold on to me
Walk tight, one line
You're wanted this time
There's no one to blame
Just hold on to me

(Come on my love)
And I'm right on time
And the birds keep singing
And you're right on line
And the bells keep ringing
And the battle is won
And the planes keep winging
And I'm right on time
And the girl keeps singing

One day there'll be a place for us

I walk and I wade
Through full lands and lonely
I stumble, I stumble
With you I wait
To be born again
With love comes the day
Just hold on to me

(Come on my love)
And I'm right on time
And the birds keep singing
And you're right on line
And the bells keep ringing

One day there'll be a place for us

And the battle is won
And the planes keep winging
And I'm right on time
And the girl keeps singing

One day there'll be a place for us

Now is the time
To follow through
To read the signs
Now the message sent
Let's bring it to it's final end

And I'm right on time
And the birds keep singing
And you're right on line
And the bells keep ringing
One day there'll be a place for us
And the battle is won
And the planes keep winging
And I'm right on time
And the girl keeps singing
One day there'll be a place for us

One day
I
Know
There'll be
A place
Called
Home

Very good song. Not one of my favorites on that album, but still very good.

brilliant album, good song. i prefer however the album opening track (don't remember the title now - what a shame... is that one "baby baby it ain't true, i'm immortal when i'm with you...", well you know... gun something...)

i love pj. she's the best. this album was my least favourite of her releases, but it was still pretty good. i prefer peej when she was brooding and angry, singing about chopping off legs, that kinda stuff.
