Song of the Day-An ode to fallen musical heroes.

I know Ozzy isn't most people's cup of tea around here, but I think that since this is primarily a tribute thread to fallen musicians, and the most recent tragedy involved a good friend of the Ozz, it's only appropriate. This is for Dimebag Darrell Abbot, John Lennon, and Sam Cooke, all musicians murdered in December during the last 40 years. And though it was a natural death, I'd also like to extend this thread to the memory of Joe Strummer, 2 years gone this December 23rd. Ozzy's not the greatest lyricist, but this is a real gem in his catalogue and a song that's been running through my head for days.

See You on the Other Side- Ozzy Osbourne

Voices, a thousand, thousand voices
Whispering, the time has passed for choices
Golden days are passing over, yeah

I can't seem to see you baby
Although my eyes are open wide
But I know I'll see you once more
When I see you, I'll see you on the other side
Yes, I'll see you, I'll see you on the other side

Leaving, I hate to see you cry
Grieving, I hate to say goodbye
Dust and ash forever, yeah

Though I know we must be parted
As sure as stars are in the sky
I'm gonna see when it comes to glory
And I'll see you, I'll see you on the other side
Yes I'll see you, I'll see you on the other side

Never thought I'd feel like this
Strange to be alone, yeah
But we'll be together
Carved in stone, carved in stone, carved in stone

Hold me, hold me tight, I'm falling
Far away. Distant voices calling
I'm so cold. I need you darling, yeah

I was down, but now I'm flying
Straight across the great divide
I know you're crying, but I'll stop you crying
When I see you, I see you on the other side
Yes. I'll see you. See you on the othe side
I'm gonna see you. See you on the other side
God knows I'll see you, see you on the other side, yeah

I'll see you. See you on the other side
I'm gonna see you. See you on the other side
God knows I'll see you, see you on the other side, yeah
I wanna see you, yeah, yeah, yeah, see you on the other side
God knows I'll see you, see you on the other side, yeah
I'm gonna see you. See you on the other side

Very nice tribute-good song choice .

Man, December is kind of a crappy month as far as celebrity deaths go, isn't it? I didn't realize (or I forgot) that many people had died in this month. May all of them rest in peace.

Wow, a classic song I hadn't heard or thought of in years. Now you've made me want to go and dig it up.

Nov. 28 is close enough. I remember hearing about U2 putting My Sweet Lord before Walk On...

I remember that day. I was on my way to work and when I heard George's voice I knew he was gone.

I woke up to "Yesterday" playing on a mix CD I had going (I know Paul sings lead on that one, but it was just weird that I woke up to a Beatles song that morning), and then I heard the news on the radio outside my room, and my mom called to me and said, "Yeah, did you hear George died?" Very sad news . That afternoon, I came home from school and turned on the radio, and they had a medley of songs that George sang lead on when he was in the Beatles and his solo stuff, and when I heard..."My Sweet Lord", I think it was, I got all teary-eyed. .

Sarah and I had just got back to BG after driving down to St. Louis to see U2--we left right after the show and it was a good 10 hour drive. I saw it online before leaving for my 9:30 British Lit class...I was crying all day.

Sadly, George had just passed on when I saw U2 for the second time in Atlanta in November 2001. At the show, a girl handed Bono a huge "We love you George" sign and he held it up for everyone to see. There was a huge cheer. I thought that was really cool.
