Well, originally I was going out with my parents to Old Country Buffet to have Thanksgiving dinner....but my village hall was nice enough to give us a complete Thanksgiving dinner....so now we are making our own while watching the Macy's Parade...then eat it...then finishing the dinner with a Pecan Pie from Bakers Square

Finally we are going to see Casino Royale since my dad is a big fan of the James Bond series.

I usually take the lead in preparing our little feast. We're having a traditional turkey dinner. A small group ... me, my parents, my sister, and her boyfriend.

I'll have lunch with my family, spend an afternoon reading "Reading Lolita in Tehran" and then go out to dinner at a friend's house.

I have a question for my American friends - is it true that the Christmas songs and Christmas decorations you hear/see in stores, at work, etc only really begins in earnest after your Thanksgiving? (I always wondered if that was the case but then someone mentionned it on ER tonight )

In Canada, our Thanksgiving is in mid-October so all the Christmas stuff starts the day after Halloween. Ugh.

Oh, it starts well before Thanksgiving here, too. There's a radio station in town that begins playing non-stop Christmas music from the day after Halloween up until Christmas night. And don't forget the subtle Christmas displays here and there.

I had waaaaaaaaaay too much last night, topped off with four cranberry margaritas that were .

I have leftovers for tonight. Turkey sandwiches.

It sort of happens that way. The day after is when all the malls and stores have their Christmas decorations up and start the Christmas music, but some stores and radio stations start playing it before. Most people put their own decorations up and get their trees, because Thanksgiving and the Friday after are the only weekdays most people have off, plus relatives and students travel to be together. So, families can do decorations together and people actually have time to go out and cut a tree or hang lights outside.
