So, what are your plans for St. Paddy's Day

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Having some Irish food&drink and listening to traditional Irish music  :giggle:

I will work until about 4pm and then head into Manhattan. Have dinner and drink until my face falls off, and then go to see the Unforgettable Fire (u2 tribute band) in Times Square and continue drinking until my arm falls off.

So, if you're in manhattan and see a one armed, faceless, drunk man, feel free to say "Hello" and offer to buy me a beer.

skip the green beer  have a guinness

Here is my recipe for Irish Soda Bread
2.5 cup flour
1.5 cup raisins (soak them in boiling water for a few minutes to plump them up then drain well)
5 tbs sugar
1 cup buttermilk
1tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter

sift (though I never do) the flour soda baking powder and sugar

Cut in butter until it looks like coarse crumbs
Add raisins and buttermilk
Stir until combined
Shape into a ball- I notch it so I get the scone triangles
place on a greased sheet or pie plate

Bake for 15 minutes at 400
30 more minutes at 375

It's super easy to make

Thanks redkat for the recipes. They sound good!

Make that three. I'll be doing exactly the same on St. Patrick's Day as I did on St. Andrew's Day, as I did on St. David's Day and as I did on St. George's Day-nowt.

Who's the patron saint of the USA? Do you guys do anything on his day?

I don't think they have one.....I believe the US is devoted to Mary though in the Catholic Church...

And shame on you for doing nothing on St Pats...don't make me come up there:wink:

Are you planning on expanding your Holy Irish Empire? :uhoh:

Still, at least you could educate us all here on the differences between an NI accent and a Scottish one.

I could also show you lot how to dance....i'm very proud of my dancing:cool:

Lets just say I took Franz Ferdinands statement 'to make girls dance' very literally...i am all for girls dancing:drool:

The Holy Irish Empire will be a glorious age indeed:dance:

^actually Guinness' popularity is falling in Ireland...it is seen as a bit of an old man's drink...though saying that i do still enjoy it quite a bit:wink:
