Snow Patrol's Run is one of the greatest songs on the new century

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Run is about a million times better than Clocks. and it's definitely up there with streets, a real lighter in the air anthem. superb song.

I disagree with the streets comparison, not even close. There is nothing innovative about "run" it has all been heard before, its a good song, but not a great song, WTSHNN is a great song, there is not another song like it, there is not an opening riff like it in all the history of music. I cant see how you can compare "run" with "wtshnn" there in diffrent leagues. Sorry but I find Snow Patrols sound quite boring, its all been heard before.

Folks if you do not think this is as good as -
Coldplay's Clocks
or
U2's Streets Have No Name,
I cannot help you.

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do

Light up...

Slower slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads

Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess

first time I heard this was at live8, can't get enough of it, or them, they won me over as a fan that day, you're right, it is a truly wonderful song

:eyebrow:

I see no one getting smashed by a train in "Run."

So it's a song about saying goodbye? I guess I could have figured that out. But what's the "light up" part? When I hear the phrase "light up," I think of lighting up a cigarette.

I always think of it like when you "light up" at the sight of someone/something... meaning you get happy and excited.

But having a cig works too

This is truly a great song... it was the highlight of their live show that I saw back in May.

It'll be a mystery, I guess. I should go and listen to it 20 times in a row now, just for further investigation.

I can think of much worse ways to spend an hour.

The song is about whatever fits your own personal framework of what you get out of it. The singer's own interpretation is not always what you think it's about or want it to be about.

Chocolate is better!

I was just thinking the exact same thing! I don't understand why everyone likes Run so much. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song. But Chocolate is the standout track on the album (in my opinion, of course).

man, do I ever hate the way he says "here" and "anywhere"

good song, though it's too long and repeats the chorus one too many times.

Diamond is ridiculously over-praising it
but diamond is...well...we all know
