"why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat..."

"she said, 'eh, I know you and you cannot sing'; I said 'that's nothing you should hear me play piano'"

"to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die"

"hang the DJ"

"the pain was enough to make a shy bald Buddhist reflect and plan and a mass murder"

etc. etc.

"Shoplifters of the world, hand it over, hand it over"

"The more you ignore me, the closer I get"

"So beware, I bear more grudges, than lonely High Court judges"

Alright, I cheated the second two are technically not the Smiths but Morrissey solo. The man has a way with words, must be the Irish blood in him. :)

"I am the son, and the heir, of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir, of nothing in particular"

"In my life, why do I smile, at people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?"

"Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me
No hope, but no harm, just another false alarm"

I was all ready to jump on you for that.

"but still I rather be famous
than righteous or holy, any day, any day, any day"

"Boot the grime of this world in the crotch, dear"

"the sun shines out of our behinds"

"I decree today that life
Is simply taking and not giving
England is mine - it owes me a living
But ask me why, and I'll spit in your eye
Oh, ask me why, and I'll spit in your eye"

"And if you must, go to work - tomorrow
Well, if I were you I really wouldn't bother
For there are brighter sides to life
And I should know, because I've seen them
But not very often ..."

"They said :
"There's too much caffeine
In your bloodstream
And a lack of real spice
In your life"

I said :
"Leave me alone
Because I'm alright, dad
Surprised to still
Be on my own..."

Oh, but don't mention love
I'd hate the strain of the pain again"

"I'd like to drop my trousers to the world
I am a man of means (of slender means)"

"And when I'm lying in my bed
I think about life
And I think about death
And neither one particularly appeals to me"

"So we go inside and we gravely read the stones
All those people, all those lives
Where are they now ?
With loves, and hates
And passions just like mine
They were born
And then they lived
And then they died
It seems so unfair
I want to cry"

"I was looking for a job, and then I found a job
And heaven knows I'm miserable now"

"Spending warm Summer days indoors
Writing frightening verse
To a buck-toothed girl in Luxembourg"

And so on. Seriously, I could quote entire albums here.

Hang the DJ indeed.
Plus... there is of course the most obvious:

SHUT YOUR MOUTH, HOW CAN YOU SAY
THAT I GO ABOUT THIS THE WRONG WAY?
I AM HUMAN AND I NEED TO BE LOVED
JUST LIKE ANYBODY ELSE DOES!

I feel a bit better now. :)

"I don't have much in my life but take it, it's yours"

"And on cold leather seats, well it finally struck me... I just might die with a smile on my face after all"

"I had a really bad dream, it lasted 20 years, 7 months and 27 days..."

you'll never believe me ....so.....

sick down to my heart

"And if a double decker bus crashes into us, to die by your side is such a heavenly way to go"

"Girlfriend in a coma, I know
I know - it's serious
Girlfriend in a coma, I know
I know - it's really serious"

"Do you really think she'll pull through?"

long done do does did
Words which could only be your own
And then produce the text
From whence was ripped
(some dizzy whore, 1804)

Frankly, Mr. Shankly, I'm a sickening wreck
I've got the 21st century breathing down my neck
I must move fast, you understand me

And if the day came when I felt a
Natural emotion
I'd get such a shock I'd probably lie

and a Morrissey Solo:
Lamenting policewomen policemen
Silly women, taxmen, Uniformed whores Educated criminals, Work within the law

No it's just more lock jawed pop stars Thicker than pig shit
Nothing to convey
They’re so scared to show intelligence
It might smear their lovely career

I just have to contribute on of my favourite songs. Yes, it is cheating, as it was a Morrissey solo song, but bugger that - it must be included.

Trudging slowly over wet sand
Back to the bench where your clothes were stolen
This is the coastal town
That they forgot to close down
Armageddon - come Armageddon!
Come, Armageddon! Come!
Everyday is like Sunday
Everyday is silent and grey
Hide on the promenade
Etch a postcard :
"How I Dearly Wish I Was Not Here"
In the seaside town
...that they forgot to bomb
Come, Come, Come - nuclear bomb
Everyday is like Sunday
Everyday is silent and grey
Trudging back over pebbles and sand
And a strange dust lands on your hands
(And on your face...)
(On your face ...)
(On your face ...)
(On your face ...)
Everyday is like Sunday
"Win Yourself A Cheap Tray"
Share some greased tea with me
Everyday is silent and grey

 ne'er a more true word spoken.

"tried living in the real world instead of a shell
but before i began
i was bored before i even began..."

"it was dark as i drove the point home"

"behind the hatred there lies a murderous desire...for love
.
.
and if they dont believe me now...will they ever believe me"

and one from moz:

"ohh i cant help quoting you cuz everything that you say rings true..."

It's rather sad that this thread died so quickly. So, just for the hell of it:

A dreaded sunny day
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
A dreaded sunny day
So I meet you at the cemetry gates
Keats and Yeats are on your side
While Wilde is on mine

So we go inside and we gravely read the stones
All those people, all those lives
Where are they now ?
With loves, and hates
And passions just like mine
They were born
And then they lived
And then they died
It seems so unfair
I want to cry

You say : "'Ere thrice the sun done salutation to the dawn"
And you claim these words as your own
But I've read well, and I've heard them said
A hundred times (maybe less, maybe more)
If you must write prose/poems
The words you use should be your own
Don't plagiarise or take "on loan"
'Cause there's always someone, somewhere
With a big nose, who knows
And who trips you up and laughs
When you fall
Who'll trip you up and laugh
When you fall

heres some joke a kid once told me, i find it funny only when Im drunk.................

How many smiths fans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?...........................................................................................................................answer- ' its already on and it never goes out"
