Hi, Violet
Thoughts? Opinions? I'll be back later to justify my provocative remarks...

You down the back, I saw that yawn!

So will we die of shock
Die without a trial
Die on Good Friday
While holding each other tight
This is kind of about you
This is kind of about me
We just kind of lost our way
We were looking to be free

But one day
We'll float...

My god KierDan. You are a shit stirrer. What are you trying to do here? Start a flame war? Here's a cup of coffee and a flagon of merlot. I know what you really need.

BTW, I cant remember the song. It prolly sucks if its a U2 song.

probably isn't though

Don't know if it's the best, but I love it.

If it is, there's definitely no reason for me to be a U2 fan.

It is a great song...but it's no better than Your Blue Room and Miss Sarajevo...those are all great...

I'll take that further and say:

It is a great song...but it's not better than Your Blue Room and Miss Sarajevo.

Wow, so some people actually like the song. That's a good sign.

Ok, my reasons (and yes this is fucking tongue-in-cheek):

1. 'Don't want what I deserve' - there's a lot in that line, and it's so beautifully put. The best line on the (admittedly not hugely lyrical) Passengers album, imo.

2. There's an organ in there somewhere.

3. Context: it comes immediately after the frantic subway dash that is United Colours. Like emerging into the light of a new day, but the same old excuses remain... 'can't help it I'm a flirt.'

4. It's a prime example of Bono in his 'fat Elvis' phase.

5. It's part of the first side of the Passengers album (say up to Miss Sarajevo), imo about as good as U2 get when they're not being 'U2'.

Hmm, so that's about it really. You're all right and I am totally wrong.

Next week: Whatever Happened to Pete the Chop?

I just heard Slug today for the first time. (finally found a used copy of Passengers to buy

) I must say, it's quite intriguing. But regardless...it can't be U2's greatest song because it's performed by the Passengers, not U2.

Mmmmm'I definately prefer "Corpse (These Chains Are Way Too Long)". I loveth that song, I have it on like a permanant repeat.

Special thanks to my astrohowtin for giving me Passengers.

It's one of my favs from Passengers, but by no means is it one of my fav. songs of U2 as a whole. But it is great.

After I first got Passengers, Slug was my favorite by a long shot. The lyrics really are quite good and the music moves me. It's not the best U2 song ever, but I am a big fan of it.

Currently, my fave Passengers song is Hypnotize (Love Me Til Dawn). I find it very erotic...
