Great news.

Hopefully Chris will give a call to Kim Thayil.

Audioslave was bread and potatoes.
Good but boring.
Rage with Zach + possible reunited Soundgarden=awesometastic

I hope Rage does new stuff Audioslave was a neutered Rage anyway. Their first album had some good tunes but the second one was boooring.

I think an article I read said that there is "no chance" that Soundgarden will ever get back together. Soundgarden's bassist initiated the breakup, and Cornell followed shortly after, or did he do a Paul McCartney and issue the statement that broke up the band even though another band member had already left? I can't remember.

if they know whats good for them, soundgarden will get back together. the third audioslave album , revelations is great. alot better then the second one. i like some songs off the second one, but not as good as first or third album. The last track on revelations , "moth" has the chrous "I DON;T FLY AROUND UR FIRE ANYMORE!!". i guess thats it,lol. how fitting.

i believe matt cameron's got himself a nice cushy job right about now and don't see him jumping to reform soundgarden anytime soon.

Soundgarden broke up because they felt they had run their course. Plus, Matt ain't coming back.

As evidenced by his first release post-Soundgarden 'Euphoria Morning' Cornell was headed towards a different creative vibe.
He was listening to Jeff Buckley and the like, he and Thayil (obviously the metal head of the group) weren't seeing eye to eye on their last album 'Down on The Upside'.

That and Cornell was battling addiction and marital problems and their bassist Ben Shepard was a complete fucking knob job who walked off stage on one of their last shows.

Moral to the story is, as MrPryck said, they had run their course.

But that was ten years ago, Cameron has moved on and as great a drummer as he is, the centerpiece of that group was Cornell's voice and Thayil's guitar. It wou;dn't be the same but who would think it ever would. It might be better not having the same lineup, less to live up to. I dunno.
