My best friend had her consultation with the surgeon for her double mastectomy yesterday. I didn’t hear from her all day, so I thought, maybe they are planning to do the surgery this weekend after all. But last night I got a Snapchat saying, “I’ll see you in Vegas!”

She flew to where her parents live in upstate NY for the consultation. Before she left, I told her about Bono almost dying, the theory about the MRI sounds at the opening of the show; she was stunned and looked like she might cry. I can’t even imagine how this show is gonna feel. So glad she’s getting to go! We’ll see what we can do to have it added to her medical records as part of the healing process.

The SOE songs that U2 have played every night, I have now heard them more live than I have the studio versions.

Ian McCulloch the U2 fan:
"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

I haven't listened to Songs of Experience. I'm a superbad fan.

All we wanted was JT30, the one album we have actually listened to.

Actually, what we really need is RAH30, still U2's best-selling album here.

From the breakfast bar
Comes a donut hole
You had two sticks of butter
So you could butter your roll
I had biscuits and gravy
That I whipped up myself
And a fresh stack of pancakes
From the box on the shelf

You speak of nooks and crannies
And I need a plate of pastries
I wouldn't eat if I was able
But I'm waiting on the crumbs from your bagel

Don’t look at U2’s Instagram if you want to avoid spoilers. It looks like last night they played

I hope the 1st set stays as it is - obviously not counting any swapping they may do over multiple nights. Now that SFS is presumably out of the mix, it flows better.

They need to mix it up a bit in the 2nd half, though...without touching Acrobat.

I'm trying to remember the Shuttlecock version of this, because I have a feeling it was particularly dirty.

I had a vision for a nookie on the cookie version but thought better of it.

Counterpoint: they're in Vegas, where the only way to have a shitty time is to, I dunno, sit around all day in the sun not doing anything to see the same show you've already seen 4 times.

Counter-counterpoint: man sucks for a lot of people at Vegas2
