Shock Jock Don Imus Fired By CBS Radio

In the "It's About Time" department, CBS Radio has fired Shock Jock, Don Imus over his racist comments about the Rutgers Womens Basketball team. This comes after many advertisers pulled their ads from both his radio show and his TV show that ran on MSNBC. This is a big move because Imus's show did generate a lot of revenue for both programs. Imus apologized for his comments, but nowadays, saying you're sorry just isn't enough.

The thing I wonder is if CBS and MSNBC still would've done the right thing if the sponsors hadn't pulled out.

I don't think they would believe it would have just been a slap on the hand and telling him that he was bad. Imus's termination was well deserved. Was completely disgusted with what he said not just about the racial remarks but the overall negative attitude towards females.

If an apology isn't good enough, then what do you want? to coach an inner city women's basketball team?

Other celebrities and athletes are completely let off the hook by some contrived, publicist generated apology unlike the truly meaningful, heartfelt apology (IMO) given by Imus.

I'm glad Imus got fired. I haven't liked him in decades. Imus was made an example. An example that you can't make racist comments and then just expect to slide with an apology. I'm sure he felt bad for his comments, but too many people weren't going to let his comments simply be swept under the rug. Maybe, others will learn from Imus's experience.

Can you please explain to me why Isaih Washington from Grey's Anatomy was not fired for calling a fellow actor a fag, and later apologized, but Imus says this and boom he is hound to the point he lost his job? Is it because he is black??

I couldn't explain it to you. I could tell you that Imus has made some questionable comments in the past and obviously the higher-ups felt the need to terminate him for his latest verbal trangression.
