I hope for the best for her

Grammy winner Sheryl Crow had surgery for breast cancer and postponed a North American tour scheduled to start next month, the singer announced on her Web site on Friday.

Crow's Web site said she underwent successful surgery on Wednesday and described the procedure as "minimally invasive." Doctors said her prognosis was excellent and she would have radiation treatments as a precaution.

"I am joining the more than 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year," Crow said. "We are a testament to the importance of early detection and new treatments ... I am inspired by the brave women who have faced this battle before me and grateful for the support of family and friends."

Last month, Crow, 44, and Lance Armstrong, seven-time winner of the Tour de France cycling race and a survivor of testicular, brain and lung cancer, announced they were scrapping plans to get married after a two-year relationship.

Crow is calling off her March-April tour but intends to reschedule as much of it as possible.

Lance Armstrong has pledged his support to breast cancer-suffering ex-fiancee Sheryl Crow, and is confident she will make a full recovery.

Crow underwent minor surgery on Wednesday and will now have precautionary radiation therapy.

Doctors insist they have caught the disease early and the outlook is good. Seven times Tour de France winner Armstrong - who is a testicular cancer survivor - has already been in touch with the singer, and is sure she will recover.

He says "Once again I'm reminded of just how pervasive this illness is, as it has now touched someone I love deeply.

"Based on my contact in recent days with Sheryl, her doctor and her family, I am confident that she will have a full and complete recovery and the world will be a better place for it."

Oh my.:( Hoping that she will be on the mend real soon, and that she will be alright. This could not of come at a better time, especially since her break up with Lance.

In April I will be getting my yearly mammogram.

I heard this announced on the news lastnight&i was dreading what they were about to say at first but was relieved when they said that the prognosis was excellent  The tone in the guy's voice made me think they were about to say she'd been in some car accident :( i'm relieved&hope she's clear of the damn thing v. soon!

I also heard this on the news last night and was shocked and deeply saddened. More and more women seem to be diagnosed, I hope there is a cure and SOON. I have had a scare and yes it is frightening. So, ladies...follow doctor's orders and keep up with your check ups and mammograms because early detection is your saving grace. All the best to Sheryl in her recovery. I was also sad to hear she and Lance called off their wedding plans. Who knows if her breast cancer was a contributing factor to their relationship or not but I for one would love to see this golden couple reunite. What an inspirational story that would make!

Glad that Sheryl caught this early! My grandmother had breast cancer and it was a really tough time for her. :(

I had a scare a few years back and luckily it turned out to be nothing. Always check to be on the safe side girls.

Scary stuff. I am a fan of her and her music, I hope she recovers.

I heard that her diagnosis was a key factor in her break up with Lance. She loved him so much that she didn't want to put him through any more cancer related problems. She wanted to battle this monster on her own.

True love.

I also wondered if this had anything to do with the break up with Lance. They just seemed so made for each other and were so supportive of one another. Who would know this would be what breaks them up after what Lance endured with his cancer. Who knows.....I am going to hope they find love again. Let her fight this on her own, altho I have read Lance is supporting her wholeheartedly...maybe they will be together again and will grow old together. I wish Sheryl a full recovery, I am a big fan of hers.

Yes Carek I like that song she did w/ Sting

Sheryl Crow, at a Rock and Republic fashion show Monday in Culver City, Calif., doesn't let the rain dampen her spirits. "I'm really dedicating my life right now to getting back on my feet," the singer, recently treated for breast cancer, told PEOPLE. "I'm like a walking poster child for mammograms, and I'm just living life."

Sending good vibes her way........

I've always been terrified of breast cancer because one of my aunts, a blood relative, had it in her 20s. Another one of my aunts had it a few years ago, it was pretty bad, but she's such a strong person she barely missed a day of work (she's a dance professor at my school) and she even teamed up with a senior engineering project group and invented a new medical device for breast cancer survivors! It's this sleeve thing and I think it helps with circulation in the lymph system because a lot of women have ongoing problems with their lymph system after breast cancer. Here's an article about it: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=8847

Great to hear that Sheryl's prognosis is good.

:applaud: Give your aunt a big hug, LivLuv! This invention is absolutely astonishing! It amazes me how people invent things, but this is really an extraordinary item. I hope not only that the invention brings notoriety and respect throughout the medical industry, but a warming peace of mind and heart, that this invention will save many women as well as bring much relief to even more. Double kudos for invention by a woman FOR women! I  it!!

As for Sheyl, I feel she will make it through this. She's got great doctors and medical attention thanks to Lance Armstrong, as well as a large family and support system and her love of music to help her through. I caught a late night Larry King a few weeks ago where the topic was Sheryl's breast cancer announcement and Lance was interviewed along with others from Sheryl's life and Lance was so sweet, so positive and it really was endearing to hear him talk of his plight, fight and survival and how strongly he feels, "without a doubt in his mind" as a direct quote, that Sheryl will come through this with flying colors, because she is a fighter just like he is/was.

Thanks. I'm so proud of my aunt. She wears her special sleeve all the time now, it really does work! Before she invented it, she had to do a bandage routine and my uncle had to learn how to give her a special massage every day.

She's never one to sit still and let something just happen to her. She also very creative, crafty, and inventive - she has all the talents and I have none! Also, she has some very wealthy relatives on her side, including a sister who also had breast cancer and this sister paid to fly my aunt to specialists in New York. I think my aunt feels that since she had that opportunity, she'd better make the best of it and help someone else like she was helped. Like my mom always says, "Necessity is the mother of invention."

Awwwwww  I love this story. That is scary though sisters both having bouts with breast cancer. That would scare me if it were in my family. Your aunt is one very special lady for her ingenuity and inventiveness, for her fight but especially for helping others. She is indeed very lucky!

LivLuv, you definitely should be proud of your aunt, yeah-that's incredibly cool. Good for her for coming up with such a neat idea  :). The more help that can come with fighting this disease, the better.

 for any woman who's had to deal with breast cancer or knows someone who's experienced it. I can't even begin to imagine how frightening it would be to deal with, so much respect for people who do everything possible to battle it. And I've still got my fingers crossed for Sheryl.

Yes, it's scary. Luckily for me though, she's not a "blood" aunt, my mom's oldest brother's wife. Scary for my cousin though!
