Sheryl Crow Has Breast Cancer

I hope for the best for her

Fri Feb 24, 10:59 PM ET

Grammy winner Sheryl Crow had surgery for breast cancer and postponed a North American tour scheduled to start next month, the singer announced on her Web site on Friday.

Crow's Web site said she underwent successful surgery on Wednesday and described the procedure as "minimally invasive." Doctors said her prognosis was excellent and she would have radiation treatments as a precaution.

"I am joining the more than 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year," Crow said. "We are a testament to the importance of early detection and new treatments ... I am inspired by the brave women who have faced this battle before me and grateful for the support of family and friends."

Last month, Crow, 44, and Lance Armstrong, seven-time winner of the Tour de France cycling race and a survivor of testicular, brain and lung cancer, announced they were scrapping plans to get married after a two-year relationship.

Crow is calling off her March-April tour but intends to reschedule as much of it as possible.

Wow! I hope she's alright.

I wonder if she knew when they broke up

Oh no!
I hope she's still friends with Lance because she could really use his support right now.

Lance Armstrong has pledged his support to breast cancer-suffering ex-fiancee Sheryl Crow, and is confident she will make a full recovery.

Crow underwent minor surgery on Wednesday and will now have precautionary radiation therapy.

Doctors insist they have caught the disease early and the outlook is good. Seven times Tour de France winner Armstrong - who is a testicular cancer survivor - has already been in touch with the singer, and is sure she will recover.

He says "Once again I'm reminded of just how pervasive this illness is, as it has now touched someone I love deeply.

"Based on my contact in recent days with Sheryl, her doctor and her family, I am confident that she will have a full and complete recovery and the world will be a better place for it."

He seems like a genuinely great guy, and it sucks that their relationship didn't work out. I think it's awesome that they still have a good friendship.

Oh my. Hoping that she will be on the mend real soon, and that she will be alright. This could not of come at a better time, especially since her break up with Lance.

In April I will be getting my yearly mammogram.

Also I do hope Lance will be of some support for her, since is a cancer survivor himself. Cancer really sucks. It's what my dad died of.

I also heard this on the news last night and was shocked and deeply saddened. More and more women seem to be diagnosed, I hope there is a cure and SOON. I have had a scare and yes it is frightening. So, ladies...follow doctor's orders and keep up with your check ups and mammograms because early detection is your saving grace. All the best to Sheryl in her recovery. I was also sad to hear she and Lance called off their wedding plans. Who knows if her breast cancer was a contributing factor to their relationship or not but I for one would love to see this golden couple reunite. What an inspirational story that would make!

Glad that Sheryl caught this early! My grandmother had breast cancer and it was a really tough time for her.

I had a scare a few years back and luckily it turned out to be nothing. Always check to be on the safe side girls.
