Wow. I wasn't 100% sure that Patti Smith was a woman until fairly recently... although I can't remember if I'd ever seen a picture. From the sound of it, it might not have helped...

Yeah, too many songs seem to pretty much have been discarded without a second thought. It was surprising to see the band go back to WGRYWH and IALW on Vertigo, as it was the first time songs ditched on their debut tour had been resurrected on a subsequent tour. I really think U2 are finally starting to look BACK at their catalogue. Right up until the end of ZooTV, you see a continual process of ditching old material and working new stuff in. But from the resurrection of IWF for Popmart on, you at least see the band starting to bring things back into the setlist in addition to working the new stuff in. As this has happened at greater levels on Elevation and especially Vertigo, I'm hopeful of more on the next tour. Sure, I doubt we'll see things like Like A Song, but stuff like Wire or Twilight would rule.

"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

OK, good points about SBS - but how about Bullet?

And honestly, Native Son is so vague that I really don't think anybody would know it's about Native Americans if Bono hadn't said anything.

Heheh. I can't remember if I read somewhere that Native Son had some sort of real-life inspiration behind it?
Yes, it's based on the case of ... some guy whose name I've forgotten.

No, I got a phone call in the middle of writing that post and my mother wouldn't stop going on about random things, so that didn't help!

Have a good one!

I'll always hold out a tiny sliver of hope for TUF, but I don't see it happening, unless U2 realize that they're running out of steam.

I think UF is fairly possible, given it was on the Best Of and all.

I honestly don't know what you're talking about here. Back when I had an interest, there were just the original 150 characters ...
