Yes, The Man bought yet another motorbike. It's got a salvage title. Does anyone know if that makes it more difficult to register? We belong to AAA, thank God, so it won't be as much of a pain in the ass as going to DMV with it.

The salvage title assures that the buyer knows that the vehicle has been formerly damaged to a point that it was a Total Loss; the owner of the car can retain the vehicle but its deemed a salvage...

For instance, you ask the seller, has this car ever been damaged; he tells you "no" but the Title indicates otherwise...its a consumer beware issue....

For example, your car is totaled in a wreck..the carrier considers the year of your vehicle, the cost of repairs to reach a decision on what to do...1987 Toyota with extensive front-end damage,,,= a total loss...now, what if the insurance company says, we'll pay you $4K for your damage (they pay you and they keep your car...) but what if you want to keep the car and fix it yourself, the carrier can reduce your award to say $2,800 but you can keep your car....in those cases, the title goes to the insurance company and in essence they sell it back to you after notifying DMV that they've paid off on it...when the Title is reissued, it bears the words Salvage....
