I missed this the first time around. 70 years old and still lending his time to a worthy political cause. Guy like that isn't just concerned about his own little world, but about the future as well.

Major props.

He was one of my favorite characters in Jaws. Was pretty shocked and sad when I read the news last night that he had passed .

RIP Roy you will be missed!

I posted this elsewhere on the web, but I figured I'd share it here too, because I've gone a while without a Spielberg dig:

"If Spielberg made Jaws today, we wouldn't conclude with Scheider and Dreyfuss paddling toward the shore (one of cinema's perfect endings). We'd see Brody come back home where his wife would be there to let him know everything was okay. The mayor is fired for keeping the beach open despite the shark warning, and Brody is apointed in his place. He then breaks down, wishing he could have saved one more swimmer, but Mrs. Kitnter reassures him by telling him how the spirit of her dead son came back to say goodbye, and how Brody is a saintly hero. After a dissolve over a waving "diver down" flag, there's a parade of the deceased's relatives placing pebbles on the beach. Fade out."
