Rod Stewart...he used to be real fucking cool.

I'm sitting here, listening to various tunes, and an old Rod Stewart tune starts playing (You Wear It Well.) My God. This song is sweet. 12 string acoustic, nice dirty electric, then band.

So, I pull up my other Rod tunes. "Maggie May", "Every Picture Tells A Story" "True Blue", "You're In My Heart".

Then I remember The Faces. Is there a better "rock" song than "Stay With Me"? Nope.

"Borstal Boys" is a fucking stormer.

"Cindy Incidentally" sounds like an old friend.

He used to be GREAT. Had the whole organic acoustic, bluesy rock thing perfected. His voice was perfect for it. Really good shit. The early 70's were sweet.

Oh, and The Faces did "Ohh La La", if you don't know that tune, make it a priority.

I saw him last year at the Hollywood Bowl, albeit way in the back. I didn't want to see new stuff. All I wanted was Maggie May, Stay With Me, Every Picture Tells A Story,... The people around me were like zombies. I was so into it and, man, it was just soooo great. And of course Ronnie Wood was with him. F***ing awesome!!!

It was awesome, that's all I can say. Just beyond words to hear the Faces stuff, etc.

Yeah I just remembered he played I'm Losing You as well as Every Picture Tells A Story

Wondering where my Rod Stewart CD ran off to (found it, but no 'Stay With Me' on it

Yeah, the stuff I've heard from that time period was good, I'll agree. "Maggie May" is a very good song (even though I always, for some reason, think of San Fransisco whenever I hear it ...).

"Reason To Believe" isn't a bad song, either .

Heh, they play some of his 80s videos on VH1 Classic sometimes. They amuse me .

Whereas that video just disturbs me. There's just something about feeling like Rod's trying to hit on you through the TV screen......

No offense if you like his music and stuff, Numb1075 .

I miss the old Rod. I even have some of his earlier albums. He was at his best with The Faces, and Ronnie Wood.

I too am a huge fan of the early Rod Stewart with and without the Faces and Ronnie Wood.

The only Rod Stewart cds I now own are 'unplugged and seated' with Ronnie Wood and 'Storyteller' which is a 4 cd box set. The box set covers the years 1964 to 1990 and is really great. All the great Rod Stewart songs you love are here.
