Robbie Williams sells a million tickets in 3 hours...

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
huh. but how many people bought tickets just to resell them on ebay or something?

isn't it like profitable to swoop in and get tickets for popular acts and then just resell them for huge profit?

Apparently Take That will reform to play a ten date tour of the UK next May

but they have to PROMISE they'll do 'Pray', 'Never Forget' and 'A Million Love Songs'... :)

amazing songs!

i'm pretty sure they'll do them.

They said in that documentary last week however that if they reformed for some lives shows then they would have to be as good and as spectacular as the ones 10 years ago.

Take That ruled.

most people over the pond dont... you're missing out though

I still cant believe how well Robbie has done for himself.

And Take That are re-forming next year for a few UK shows, not suprisingly robbie isnt joining them.

I would love to see Robbie live but tickets are quite expensive and hassel...I'll see what ticket prices aregoing for online nearer the venue dates.

I think the new album 'Intensive Care' is too commercial. There's nothing 'special' on it. Escapology has some rock songs on it (song 3, cursed, hot fudge) and some more experimental (how peculiar, me & my monkey).

Intensive care has only 3 really good tracks imo (ghosts, a place to crash, make me pure) and the rest is too pop. Good songs but there is less rock on it and no experimental stuff. So I think Escapology is way more better than Intensive care.

Am I the only one who thinks that Robbie Williams' "own" music is totally uninteresting and lacks an edge or two?

:hmm: I think he needs a Larry Mullen or two

....can't be bothered with the ticket hassle tho. Only 1 band i'm prepared to do that for - again(!)

Y'know, if Pink Floyd do another four song set again for charity (say the Palestinian conflicts) then this is what I'd want them to play:

Dogs
Atom Heart Mother Suite
Echoes
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-IX)

Figured out why I'd want those particular songs yet, Aadvark?

Anyways, back on topic, Robbie can sell this many tickets this quickly? I'm actually kinda suprised. Still, he is a great performer live, I have to admit...

Robbie,

I have to say Was not a fan of Take That.

When he released George Michaels Freedom thought It was cool.
Brilliant version

Went to see him during his Oasis days, thought he rocked, small venue in my home town no more than 500 people.

Saw him on "Sing When your winning tour" at Manchester, A true Showman all the way and what a gig. Even spoke to Geri Haliwell that day, all be it from the crowd to side of stage.

Escapology was good but disjointed album in my opinion so didnt go to knebworth. Mistake! had some good tunes on the album but something wasn't clicking with me, Still not sure why.

Got tickets for Hamden Park, Get in

Have to say though not a huge fan of Trippin, good tune but not his best by a long shot.

Wicked, rude, totally uncalled-for. Consider this post reported :tsk:

I didn't say that the guy lacked The Edge, I said he lacked an edge or two. There's a subtle difference there.

:tsk:

I've heard this guy's stuff before and still can't figure out what all the fuss is about

You're not the only one.....

He's a great showman, no doubt about that, perhaps the greatest of all at the moment, but his music is  and some of it is even :yuck:

my mom wants to see him play live, she's got a robbie williams calender.

i think he is a bigger concert draw than U2, he's got more mass appeal (apart from in America)

Not so fast, the following is what U2 did for two months in Europe in 2005. 32 shows, all of them selling out the day of release. U2 could have added more shows, perhaps another 32, but they were already booked for another 50 arena shows in the United States. In any event, U2's 32 date VERTIGO tour is the highest grossing tour in the history of EUROPE! I doubt Robbie will be able to top it, unless he plays a lot more shows than U2 had time to this year.

Here are U2's concert statistics in Europe in 2005:

Wow - just plain wow. 5 nights at Wembley 100% sold out (with the new larger capacity that is amazing) plus no tickets available for any other European show - could it be said (gasp) Robbie is as big of a concert pull as U2 in Europe? He is putting additional shows on sale next weekend - so he could quite easily play to over 2-3 million. Rumour is there will be another 3 Wembley shows - which would break Michael Jackson's record run of 7 achieved on the 'Bad' tour...

Apparently 'Intensive Care' has now sold (not shipped) over 4 million in 5 weeks - so imagine if he was popular in the USA as well... madness.

Good news is South America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Malaysia are expected to get shows at the end of 2006.

I notice tickets for his UK shows are only 45 pounds which is 78 dollars at current exchange rates. U2's 6 VERTIGO shows in the UK had an average ticket price of 110 US dollars.

Guess what String? There's only one of him.

I'm a bit peeved I missed Robbie's last tour in Oz (with Duran Duran  ) but looking forward to trying to see him next time. Rock DJ

I think she meant that he's one and U2 has four members. I cannot quite figure out why this should mean that U2 has some kind of advantage, though. Are they "supposed" to be 4 times as popular?
