It was actually quite entertaining. I think a group of thugs left to get popcorn and another group of thugs stole their seats. As the movie started, we could hear them talking back and forth about 'taking it outside' etc etc. My girlfriend and I were in the aisle seats opposite them. I'm not 100% what happened next, but they started scuffling and eventually ended up fighting in my girlfriends lap. (Of course then I push them off of her and got a scratch on my arm!!!! it nearly broke the skin and everything). Then security came. One of the girl thugs ended up bleeding all over the place while yelling "DO YOU WANNA DIIIIIIE?!?!" to the other group about 10 times. We heard her yell it once more when she was outside the theatre and everyone laughed. Then security came again and escorted a second group of thugs out. It ruined the start of the movie, but I enjoyed it a great deal

Sublime stuff there. Show your teeth, Canada.

And They Lived Happily Ever After

the third film i have seen (its the first one they made chronologically) featuring Alain Chabat and Charlotte Gainsbourg working together in the same film (the others being I Do, and The Science of Sleep, "I Do" being the best of the three)

the characters in this movie are nowhere as likeable as the other films and i felt like turning off this film so many times. gainsbourg came off being quite bitchy, but thats her range - shes either adorable or appalling... but at least she's game to do that, not many actors like playing unlikeable characters

the film did have this redeemable scene though ->

I went to your link

and read the comments below

I found this wonderful tip:

i'm male, 26, and just this Christmas had a brief encounter with a mature woman. It was wonderful. We met via internet dating on this site:
A g eL e s s M i ng l e .C 0 M a good way to meet like-minded people, and she actually approached me first. It just so happens I like older women and she likes men around my age. We had an amazing day and later on she joined me at a hotel. It was like a fantasy come true. Amazing company, amazing sex too and a really warm and loving woman. She will turn 36 this month, and my goodness what a connection we had that day.

hhhfffffbbbbbbbbbbbbbbn mmmmmmmmm

the purpose of this thread is for people to give their opinions

are you looking for like-minded people to hold hands with?

and there are quite a few, real critics, that are calling this a lesser work by Scorsese, A O Smith for one

The craft isn't lesser. The script is lesser but I had more fun and a sense of horror than most horror movies. I also hope this cinematographer gets an oscar nomination.

Put me in the "Shutter Island Lover" camp, stuffed in the back row. Sweet Jemimah.

I have a hard time finding things to elaborate off of what Laz, Lance, Scumbo, or Roundabout posted, so I should just go "Yeah."

Glad you enjoyed it

Both Scott and Phillips on At the Movies rated it- Skip it
their lowest rating.

next week it won't even be in top 3
but I do expect it to be Scorsese's biggest money maker, what a shame
compared to several of his other far superior films

Phillips' review online is more of a summary than anything else. At least I can understand where Scott's coming from, since he, you know, actually gives some of his analysis.

The Hurt Locker

I dunno ... I thought it was good, but didn't live up to the accolades. Maybe it's just that I wasn't that into the subject matter. I wanted to see it just because I've heard so much about it and because it's another best picture nom I had the opportunity to see.

I don't know squat about directing, so I'll just root for Bigelow just because hey, first female winner and all that.

^LMP, this is gunna sound really random but could u please explain ur signature?

Wow, The Invention of Lying was pretty damn disappointing despite a great first half hour or so. Way too heavy handed, even if I agree with its sentiments. And some of the montages/musical cues were just cringeworthy.

Oh, that sucks. I just got that from Netflix. Although my expectations aren't all that high to begin with, to be honest.

Yeah, it sucks indeed. The first thirty minutes or so is really funny though, and even the later parts are filled with some good Rickyisms. The plot just lost me more than anything else, and the music just about killed it.

have you seen her in the French romantic comedy called "I Do"?

shes absolutely gorgeous in that movie, and j'adore her in her role as the neighbour in The Science of Sleep.

HOWEVER! this singer/actor has the ability to play adorable or absolutely unlikeable! unlikeable = the selfish self-centred wife of sean penn's character in 21 grams; antichrist and "and they lived happily ever after"

heres hoping for more roles like "I Do" and "The Science of Sleep". or more albums!

The Invention of Lying

Eh. I was really put off by the entire beginning. Yeah, funny, but it wasn't so much that people were unable to lie, it's that no one was able to avoid saying every thought that popped into your head.

That really bothered me. I feel misled by the premise. Self-editing isn't lying - it's tact.

I love this.

9 - 9/10
I like post-apocalyptic stuffed doll movies.

Casino - 9/10
It felt like Goodfellas, but in Vegas and sans Ray Liotta. Even Sharon Stone being irksome didn't take away from the experience. I like Scorcese.

Public Enemies - 8/10
Yeah. Liked it a lot. First 3/4 of the movie were great. Last 1/4 was a nice build up, though I thought it ended too obviously and quickly, but maybe that's how real life goes.

Ditto to all of this. The only thing I really have to add is just how gorgeous I thought the whole thing was. The performances were great, but what really stuck with me is the look of the island and the way everything was shot. Beautiful stuff.

Really enjoyed it. And an Emily Mortimer sighting? Looks like she's bouncing back well from avian bone syndrome.

Val Day.

okay, so this actually was reasonable. yea. no major fuk up. no hanky panky bed shit. it kept me watching.

good cast. lovely double surpise ending.

best part? Jennifer Garner beating the shit outta that heart-shaped whatever-the-fuk-it-is thing while Jessica Biel watched on, certainly the loud intense music matched the scene. these two actresses have great toned bodies. great scene. great scene.

Eric Dane was hot as fuk.

8 and a quarter outta 10.
