Laz, if I were to only check out one of those films you posted, which would you recommend, considering my tastes and such?

Thanks for the links, Laz. I'll check them out after I get through my Donnie Darko / Vertigo / Apocalypse Now / Gangs of New York Thanksgiving Break Quadrifecta.

My friend let me borrow Donnie Darko, now I'm kind of obligated to see it. More of my friends have seen that over Die Hard, which will be rectified soon.

Apocalypse Now REDUX. Excuse me.

Is that GONY rape thing a positive or negative critique?

Besides, Harvey Weinstein already raped the original cut.

Borat

I was really disappointed in this film. Reviews had said it was hysterically funny, but I found it to be an absurd, juvenile, stupid, nonsensical, and sometimes grotesque, unfunny waste of two hours. It was like a bad SNL skit that should've been over in two minutes, stretched out to an hour and a half.

One star. And that's being generous.

I love how it has to be a female woman. You can never be too sure I guess.

It's a good critique. Obviously.

Beowulf

Didn't see it in 3D unfortunately, but still loved every minute of it. Strikes just the right balance between eye candy and story (in fact, adding a bit more meat to the original...in more ways than one).

Of the actors, I thought Hopkins, Gleeson and Jolie (perfect casting) were the highlights. The less said about Malkovich the better, though. He sounded like he was stuck in Pascal Sauvage mode.

4/5

Well why not thumb its eyes out and skull fuck it while you're at it? Then you can dismember it and store all the pieces in your freezer for later.

That's just how good Gangs of New York is, folks.

Sorry, I didn't see this before.

Definitely Under Capricorn. Especially after just seeing Vertigo. 39 Steps is more of a crowd pleaser and a great film, but it's not high art like UC.

I never said I'd wouldn't do that to a human. Don't make assumptions.
